Small trove of books and ephemera, including some brand histories, a couple of promotional booklets from the 50s (including one with overlaying transparent pages illustrating an auto-winding movement), and a giant book on wristwatches that is very disorganized, but has a huge collection of photos from vintage advertising and catalogs.

A salesman sample chest of drawers to convert to a watch box...
Very nice! Reminds me of when I fell down one of those wonderful internet rabbit holes just by watching Revolution Watch's YT video with OF's very own @Spacefruit. All because I focused on the drawer/storage that was used to store some of the Speedmasters. Looked to be a modified old Letterpress typeface drawer, I could be mistaken, but either way I thought it was a wonderful way to store the watches. Who knows though, maybe one day there will be a PM in my inbox enlightening me to the storage setup 馃槈, but for now congrats on your new-to-you chest of drawers and looking forward to seeing it finished as a watch box.

Ok, I had better do a good job then馃憤. Planning to line with velvet material, perhaps some dividers and some holders too.

I'm sure yours will be great! I fell down that rabbit hole looking at old Letterpress chest of drawers as I had never thought about repurposing one of those and it seemed like a no brainer after I noticed it in the interview.

Something I should have done long ago. Tired of cheap tips breaking after a few uses.

It's just a hat, but I won it at a watch event and thought the lunar surface liner was cool.

Bought this 1960s vintage golden lizard skin Hermes Wallet. It鈥檚 off to my watchmaker to have straps made from the top leather. Hermes is generally regarded as only using the best leathers available. I also love the patina that this has picked up.

Another thing that arrived today. A bunch of cheap chrono pushers for some experiments using the laser cutter to make acrylic movenent holders.

Now I need to figure out if they use a common thread.

Back in August, my pressure testing machine stopped working...needed a new sensor assembly:

Old one removed:

New one installed:

So after that $600+ bill, the machine was working fine. That is until my compressor decided it would no longer compress, so new compressor just arrived:

Broken gauge lens...

On with the set-up. Install filter on the exhaust:

Drain line:

Fill with oil:

Install the filter/regulator:

Fire it up!

So, been an expensive couple of months for pressure testing here...

Have you considered getting an exorcism for it, that鈥檚 a bit of bad luck in a row for one machine.

Yeah, I am re using photos. I got one of the Tanner Morehouse dial storage containers. I see these used on you tube videos.

I also have been cutting more rings on the CO2 laser. Hopefully I can figure out the fiber laser this week. That might be a way I could make some dies for dial painting using the old postscript program. Supposedly the fiber laser can ablate metal. The results a member was working a few weeks back with etching flex pcb was not too productive. It takes a lot of passes for the fiber laser to ablate copper.

I also brought back a small laser engraver I got at eWaste that I left in the makerspace months ago. I used a similar one to engrave pipe organ stop tabs.

I also left the "Not a watch" in the photograph." For 17 + S&H bucks on Shop Goodwill, this has been surprisingly useful. I got some others which eventually I want to see if I can put a mechanical movement into.
