Hello.

Lord Peter Wimsey ... the complete serie.

Surely not all at once ... one after the other.

Kind regards
Smilla
I forgot about that series, used to watch that back in the day.

We just finished the Santa Clarita Diet. Oh my what a fantastic show! Great cast and amazingly funny. The writing is sharp and although Timothy Oliphant always had a bit of comedic flair in shows like Justified, he is amazing in this and is well suited to comedy.

We were aware before we started that it was cancelled and had a sort of cliffhanger, but honestly it felt reasonably complete at the end of the last episode. Even if it hadn’t it would have been well worth the watch! Highly recommend.

Very frustrating when they cancel good series mid delivery like that.
There are endless examples of it I could quote off the top of my head such as The Peripheral and another was The Wheel of Time.
Doesn't seem to matter how good the rating and viewership is they just get randomly axed, super frustrating

The Peripheral had soooo much potential...very disappointed that it was cancelled.

Yes that one had a lot going for it in terms of original concepts and the one I am the most disappointed about, who knows maybe it will get a reboot.

I've read very contrasting opinions on the ending - some say it was very against Walt's character to save Jessie at the end, but I don't think it was really. I think despite everything he cared for him in some way, and I'm glad they let that bit of humanity show through. Thoughts?

It's been years since I watched Breaking Bad (Can you believe it ended over a decade ago!) but I'll take a stab at this one...

I agree it was in character, but only because Walt had given up at that point and was just tying up loose ends. If Walt hadn't lost his family and his meth empire by then, he would have let Jesse die without question. We know that because he literally did do that, the nazis were the ones who asked Walt if they could keep him alive to torture him for information, after Walt told them to kill him.

Walt did care for Jesse, just as he did want to provide for his family. But above those secondary goals, his primary goal was to build his criminal empire and prove to himself and everyone else that he was the best.

Switching topics entirely, since it's a "what are you watching today" thread... I've been taking the Christmas break to catch up on some of the classic movies I haven't seen yet. Most recently I got around to watching the first four Rocky movies, and man they were really good. I've always been more of an Arnie guy, but Sly can write and direct. Carl Weathers steals the show though, loved Apollo Creed.

Just started watching the 3 Body Problem, looks like it may be good.
First season was great - very much looking forward to the next!

The Panama canal scene - that was a doozy!

Started up Blue Lights on Brit Box. I’m really enjoying the show and for being a former police officer it’s one of the closest shows I’ve seen to a police drama (even though I’m in the US). It’s the personalities that the writers got that are accurate. Every character in the show I can easily assign 2-3 officers I know. Never got into any police dramas here except the Wire. Definitely recommend Blue Lights
I started watching this last night after seeing some previews, so far, I love it. I'm a big fan of UK police shows, including Happy Valley, Line of Duty and Broadchurch. Oh, and Top Boy, it's more about the crime gangs than a police procedural though.

The only unfortunate part is that the next season won't be out for another year 🙁

Just finished watching the final ( S05E08 ) of Stranger Things.
The Duffer brothers took a long time in this final episode wrapping up the episode after the main focus of the series was concluded which is interesting so it had a long epilogue which only added to the completeness of the series, all kudos to them for that.

...agree it was in character, but only because Walt had given up at that point and was just tying up loose ends.

It makes sense because the one thing Walter has always maintained over Jesse is control. Life, death; freedom, slavery; happiness, sorrow; none of these things are Jesse's choices to make for himself, but always Walters in every single episode. Secondarily, the production of Blue Meth is Walter's to control as well. Especially at the point at which Walter's death is inevitable, these decisions make sense. I don't see them as out of character at all.

...just as he did want to provide for his family.

One of the best statements (made by a psychologist) I've ever seen made about Walter White is "he's not really a family oriented person- he's someone that has a narcissistic identity of a family-oriented person...[he] won't make the sacrifices that [his family] asks him to, he makes the sacrifices that support his image of being family-oriented and martyring [himself for his family.]"

Looking forward to following up with Better Call Saul.

I hope you enjoy your watch- it's a totally different show from Breaking Bad and in many, many ways I enjoy the pacing and content much more.

Just finished watching Interview with the Vampire last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it- I loved reading the books years ago and thought that the actors absolutely nailed the characters- especially Sam Reid's portrayal of Lestat (but it's honestly not fair to single anyone out).

Can't wait for Season 3 later this year.

Re watched The Karate Kid (2010) which stars Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith.
This is without a doubt to me the best rendition of the series to me, Jackie plays a character quite different than the one we normally see and even Jaden Smith puts in a very credible performance.
Having a good background in Chinese culture myself it does nothing to offend, I actually found myself to be very empathetic to this rewatch more so than on the other 2 occasions I had watched it, maybe a sign of old age 😀

I haven't seen that one in years. I'd forgotten Andrew Robinson was in it ... a few years later he found his best role in Deep Space Nine.

Pretty sure that's the first time I watched it all the way through since I saw it when it came out. I had forgotten he was in it as well!
