So, another recent meal was this Faroe islands salmon, which is amazing
I owned a Seafood - Italian Restaurant for a couple of decades and this is the only salmon I'd serve.

I'm going old-school for mother's day with

Low and slow rump roast - grass-fed Galloway beef from a friend's farm, w/baked potato and brussel sprouts

Mushroom - red wine gravy

2019 Niagara Bench Pinot Noir - Hugh's vineyard
My own label - I've been making wine from fresh, whole grapes for 30 years, now.

Rhubarb-strawberry crisp for dessert

For Mother's Day dinner I prepared a USDA Prime Harris Ranch rib roast and accompanied it with a bottle of Joseph Phelps.

Dinner tonight consisted of Wisconsin cheese curds...I’ve been in Wisconsin for the past few days...and I wanted to buy (and consume) Wisconsin cheese curds from a dedicated Wisconsin “cheese shop”...as well as purchase (and wear) Wisconsin cheese paraphernalia from the same dedicated Wisconsin “cheese shop”...

I thought for a moment there that you had a new hood ornament on the CVPI.

But then I remembered that you ain't from Texas and it must be an optical illusion.

The only question is...did they squeak when you are them? Cheese curds must be squeaky in my books...

Yeppers...squeaky...almost as squeaky as our dog Cody’s squeaker toy. 👍

New York strip and a twice-baked potato. Keeping it simple.

We had these. - Beyond Meat Burgers, truffle mayonnaise, melted Swiss cheese, brioche buns….and some other stuff. Have to keep pinching myself and saying “it’s not meat, it’s not meat…”

My wife and I have been eating Beyond Meat and Beyond Sausage for a while now and really love them. It's difficult to differentiate between real meat and the Beyond products, especially when eaten with "other stuff" thrown in. My only gripe is the Beyond Meat has an odd smell when cooking - be sure to put on the fan. 👍

We tried some burger patties a month or so back, and they were pretty foul. The smell was horrible and the texture was way off. We cooked one out of the two packs and circular-filed the other.

Wow ... good to know.

We stuck with animal protein tonight. Fried chicken with peanut gravy, mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob.

I was initially sceptical about these, I’m not a vegan - my number 1 food item is a properly dry aged USDA prime bone in rib eye.

I was surprised - these were juicy and delicious. I like my burgers medium rare, so I did these 3 mins each side and then cheese on top with lid on just to melt the cheese for the last 30s on the second side. They don’t quite smell the same as meat, but the texture and taste are astonishingly good (I think there are blind tasting vids around). With the extras, it really is amazing.

To be clear - these aren’t “healthy”, in the sense that whilst they have great protein, vitamin and mineral content, they are heavily processed and high in saturated fat and salt. That said they are delicious, good for the planet, and so close to meat that meat producers were worried enough to persuade Texas to introduce legislation banning them from being advertised as “meat”. They have certainly found a place in our family’s diet - we’ll always buy high quality steak as a treat and free range meat for Sunday roasts, but honestly, I don’t think we’ll buy traditional burgers again.

Tacos, quesadillas, chile rellenos(cheese) for real Baja Tacos, the meat is well done. Of course salsa, guacamole and beans all homemade
