It's 1am and my Missus is making 'fakkin' Peruvian chicken and sweet corn soup!... yet again! She says; "Amor... Yoo eat deez soupz... it do benefit for yooz bowel" I could murder a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich!
Had gruel for dinner. Why? Because I buy too many watches. Even have a watch I purchased especially for gruel preparation with a screw down crown.
Couple nights ago it was jerk chicken made with ghost peppers, fresh corn on the cob, with some garlic bread... I had help in the kitchen... And at the dinner table...
Sure - me too and I own a few... Okay I need to get some mineral oil on this as I was slicing, dicing, and chiffonade-ing a bunch last night making big batch of Bruschetta for dinner. So here is a shot of the back side, which shows the wood in more detail. Made by a local company. The only other one I have out is a Koa wood board that I bought in Hawaii - small so we could bring it home, and too nice to actually use. You can see it in the background here... Being a former woodworker I do enjoy the look of these. Cheers, Al
I am a big fan of going with as much board acreage as you can reasonably fit in your work space. Also a big fan of end grain boards. There really aren't any makers local to me in the DC area; the closest is one about 1-1/2 hours south in Richmond. Our boards all came from a maker in North Carolina who retired a couple of years ago, but sold his company to another woodworking guy in Texas who has been carrying it on (BoardSmith). A good board definitely makes prep go a bit smoother.
A Lady 'A' special fish pie, ingredients that I know of are undyed smoked haddock, cheese sauce, capers, spinach, mashed potato, tomato plus several other bits and pieces that she never lets on about ?
A really well put together sandwich has all the nutritional requirements and plenty of fresh lettuce and tomato with mayonase as a built in salad. A side order of fried potatoes for carbs and starches. Studies of the 70's determined the standard deluxe hamburger to be a well balanced meal. Turkey with bacon is even more healthy than either by itself, they compliment each other.
