What’s happening on March 26th then?

Raynald Aeschlimann says "They're great watches, in fantastic colours, and they make me smile". Fair enough, but no one in The Swatch Group or Omega can be happy with how the rollout exploded on the launch pad last week. Of course it generated a lot of publicity but they failed miserably to have much of any product on hand to actually sell, and no one knows how much is actually going to be available. Thank goodness NASA had their act together in the 60's to actually achieve their goal. Swatch, not so much.

Did Swatch do something to you in the past?

I respect your view (though, in all honesty, I don't quite understand it).

Personally, I would be elated -- you could even say I'd be over the moon to have such an out of this world impact 😉. In fact, seeing all the hype and publicity would make me want to limit stock even if I had originally planned on a massive launch and widespread distribution. My strategy moving forward would be to have a small in-select-store restock and open up online availability (again with small supply). Make a big announcement that the MoonSwatches are back and accessible to everyone that wants one as long as supplies last, get a bunch of news coverage, have them sell out in minutes, then retire the majority of the collection citing production difficulties/costs/whatever and unanticipated demand. I'd allow maybe one or two products to continue (Moon and Earth, perhaps) and discontinue the rest to maintain exclusivity. But that’s just me.

Interesting video, especially between 1:14 and 1:19. Unibody case. Does this mean that the movement could be replaced if defective at some point in the future by pulling the crown and popping the crystal? Is that molded-in lug what stops the movement from rotating in the case?

While in the dark corners of a forum such as this there is an interest and ability to pick out things to critique, or things that might irritate the likes of “us,” I suspect the real world barely notices such trees for the forest.

The former group is a tiny fraction of the latter.

As for the even smaller group that would rightfully be most aggrieved: those who slept/stood in line and didn’t get one? I imagine very few of them will refuse to try and get one in some future release.

The spectacle of the roll out really is the sausage-making if not point of it all.

If you’re dubious, do a quick YouTube search for any version of “fights at [Nike, Supreme, Dior, PS5, etc.] release”

If you think up a collaboration release for which you can’t find some right/stampede video, it probably means it wasn’t a very sought after release.

*shrug*

If they pull that shit, they won’t get my money- ever. My wife wants a few of these, I made it clear I won’t pay above retail, I won’t wait in a line and I won’t give my money to a company that makes me beg for it- she totally agrees.
It’s the same attitude I had when I was a dating person- if you can’t be interested in making time for or showing interest in me, why would I put any effort into you.
I don’t play the hard to get game- I have better things to do with my time/money.

I don't think you have anything to fear. Swatch group doesn't operate this way generally - they want the watches in the hands of their customers generally.

It's a Facebook link, but it was the only place I've been able to find this...

I don’t work for the Swatch Group so you (and the rest of us who want one+ of these) are most likely in luck 👍. And if Swatch/Omega do decide to keep following the hype playbook, there’s fortunately plenty of other fish in the sea. Or maybe I should say stars in the sky? Space junk in the universe? You get what I’m saying — plenty of ways to spend your money these days.

Unfortunately that links to an all blank profile for some reason

You likely have to be a friend to see the posts. It wasn't about the Swatch collaboration specifically - the video was showing statements made by Nick Hayek at the annual report presentation about how they view the market. He talked specifically about getting watches in the hands of those who want them for a reasonable price, rather than taking advantage of short term shortages to jack up prices.

Why do you have a problem with someone making a comment that you may not agree with? It's my personal observation, this is a comment board after all. Most businesses make boneheaded decisions at one time or another, Swatch cocked this one up. If you feel otherwise, good for you.

Lighten up dude, it’s all good. I went off on a negative tip myself to start off, no point.

I didn't say I disagreed with your position, I simply asked a question. If it was just "a" comment, I likely wouldn't have asked, but since this collaboration came out, you have pretty consistently posted negative things about Swatch, so I was genuinely curious why that is.
