WFH WYS ( working from home what’s your set up )

This is the first time I’ve ever worked from home in 37 years due to these unprecedented world events . And I have to say I’m struggling with this new way of working ,& getting into a the routine of working remotely . We’re using a lot of teams FaceTime for meetings and chats along with the usual e mail traffic , what’s app etc . So I’m wondering how everyone else that’s new to the world of WFH is getting on & what’s your WFH setup look like . I’m quite lucky that I can go to the bottom of the garden and have some peace and quiet to work , it also gives Mrs CPR some time on her own from my moaning and grumbling. So here’s some pictures of my set up & a very happy Mrs CPR as she watches me walk to my WFH command centre 👍

I’ve been awake since 6:30am and am still laying in bed at 9:30am with my phone and laptop. I’ll get up soon to make coffee.

I would but Mrs CPR won’t let me , she says the lights give off a certain ambience .... And I said what’s ambience mean .

Yesterday I had my first skype court hearing. Very strange. I was sitting at my table and the dog was lying at my feet while I was talking with the judge. Unreal. But it's a brave new world.

Construction meeting today. Half of us attended via internet, while 6-8 people were together out at the mock-up at the project site. I will take the internet any day of the week right now.

Ha. I was wondering who would break first!

My office at front of house. I've worked 'flexibly' or from home parts of the week for about 15 years, a routine is essential, and so is turning off. Its very easy to stay online , esp when working with / across mulitple countries they will always take advantage if they see you on line.
Standing desks are great, think they're essential these days. No fancy hi fi sadly, just x2 Bose Sound Links which are great in this space and I cannot stand wires, although when I'm made redundant, project 1 is to create a cabinet for vinyl off to the left.

My already existing home office in my shop/man cave. I also moved some workout equipment in since the gym closed. I have had 75 yd walk to work for 8 years. I mostly come out to hide now.....

I talked to my guy two days ago. He’s my roommate and close friend from university. He said don’t look and don’t panic. He said my stuff was down but in much better shape than the actual market. I’ll heed his advice for my own peace of mind. With not enough to do I don’t want to have time to stew and worry about that....

I work for a Healthcare software company, mostly working with users in hospitals to support the installation and maintenance of our software on Windows. I went remote in 2014 when we moved about 90 miles from my old office building. I have one room that is my office. It's kind of a disaster so I'm not going to post a picture. I bought a 2nd hand Aeron off of Craigslist at the time, and that was $350 VERY well spent. Chair was made in 2008 and still looks brand new despite my hefty butt sitting in it for over 10,000 hours, and who knows what usage before I bought it.

It's been my normal for ages. I'm lucky in that all meetings are voice only - I've had 2 video conferences in 6 years. We use skype for official communication and a group Trillian conversation for a non-official channel just on my team of three people.

My home set-up is on a peninsula in the kitchen, overlooking a sink and the 'baking counter'. For soothing background noise I have a 7-year-old. Thankfully my office is just a 1/2 mile down the street, so I am working 5-6 hours there, and only working from home for an hour or two in the morning and a couple hours at night (after my son is asleep).

I’ve got a little cubby off the living room, at one time we considered converting it to a wine closet, that’s on hold for now. I’ve been working from home for about two years; yes, a routine is essential. However, it is nice to wear shorts and t-shirt and shave “sometimes”. With Mrs Zin at home, she’s throwing me a bit off my game, but we’ll get thru it

As I look at the photos people are posting, the word "ergonomics" comes to mind. If you are working from home a lot on a regular basis or will be doing it through this "stay at home" period, I recommend that everyone Google for some simple ergonomics information for your desks.
