·My Compur 30, in honour of @knafel1983 's splendid effort on the other thread, another recently completed UG project here.
The dial was in lovely condition when I found this watch but everything else needed a lot of work. The movement was knackered and the watch hadn't moved for years. People had warned me that Cal 386 would be hard. I got the chrono system overhauled and the bottom pusher mended. The loose bezel and crystal were cleaned up and reattached. The lug tips and fixed bars were horribly "repaired" at some point in the past and have now been shown some love and corrective attention on a best-efforts basis. The crown is still wrong but I am reconciled to living with this forever as my heroic watchmaker finally ran out of Compur parts at the end of this project.
Scores of hours and hundreds of Pounds later; here we are. I think it turned out alright.

Thank you. Sadly not one of Mr Jeanneret’s specials but a generic Jung & Cie (punch 128).
The lugs are extremely fine, hence them failing I suppose, and the case overall definitely feels more lightweight in hand than other casemakers’ output for other UG watches I have from the time.

·Old friend recently bought a cabin in Wisconsin just shy of the border. We had a reunion there last week with long lost work friends. Amazing how 30 years melts away fast. Anyway this was just a day hike but I’ll be back. 19 years in Chicagoland and never ventured up there. I’ve seen a good chunk of the world in that time. Kinda sheepish this was right under my nose.
It sure is a wonderful place to be. Truly a different type of pristine than most people realize it could imagine
