had business with Watchco last week and spoke to them about the SM 300. there are not many date versions left in the moment and no non date versions at all. I`ve known the owners for many, many years and suggested to reserve the last ones to members of this forum. we talk about 8-10 x SM 300 date versions like the one on ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/131433889833?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649 .
I suggested a special price in direct dealings, US$ 2800 incl. registered shipment. if we get a shot at this, should I post at the sales corner ? would there be a chance to find enough buyers here? kind regards. achim

What do they mean by not many left? Why don't they just order more parts? None of these parts are discontinued...this whole thing is so strange...lots of misinformation going on about these watches and the associated parts.

Well, in Denmark none of the Omega AD's can order a complete case for SM300. Omega knows what a complet case is used for, the same for the "SHOM" and properly other Omega models. If this was possible there were no reason to order from Cousins, Ofrei and Watchco, i have a friend that is a Omega AD seller and service and this option was closed years ago. You can get a new case if you send a watch direct to Omega i guess.

Seems to be a pretty attractive arrangement. As gauged by my desire to jump in on this group buy, even though I don't want one. [emoji12]

Good luck to the effort!

I would not expect an AD to be able to order a case, or other parts like dials, hands, movement parts. These parts are used by watchmakers, not AD's (unless they have a watchmaker on staff).

Omega does handle parts differently in different markets, but as someone with a spare parts account, I order cases all the time, for all sorts of models - modern and vintage. Unless Watchco has already been cut off, they have been able to order cases in the past, so they should be able to order them until the end of this year when Omega plans to cut off all the watch parts supply houses. I assume they order from Omega just like I do, and also like Otto Frei, Jules Borel, Cousins, and every other material supplier out there that carries Omega parts.

I have a couple more on back order from Omega...

And as I have said many times, the no date dial that everyone keeps saying is discontinued, is still available and always has been as far as I know.

Cheers, Al

I agree with Al.

It seems that a lot of folks mistake what is available from watchco and ofrei to be an indication of what is available period. It's not the same.

Also, I remember MANY times over the past several years, watchco has led people to believe that THIS is the last set of Seamaster 300s that will be available, but more always seem to pop up for sale a few months later. December will be different, but for now I don't see why they couldn't get more.

I have just checked with my watchmaker and he told me that for some years ago he could not get these SM 300 and SHOM cases, and he just tried to look a 166.0324 up in the Omega ordering database and he is able to order them now.
Sorry for my mistake.

Quick correction in case it matters: I'm the west.net Rob, but am in California, not Australia!

Achim, thanks again for all of your efforts. Let's see if we reach 10 pieces.
