Watch Service recommendation.

Hello.

I have a Speedmaster 3572.50 which I had previously serviced at omega boutique at 5th Ave. That was approx. 10 years ago. I went back to omega to service again but because the case has corrosion they asked if I would approve a replacement case. I did not so they are returning the watch to me unserviced.

Is there any recommended service centers ideally in the nyc or Fairfield Ct area who I can take my watch to.

There have been a few recent threads about this. I'll link them below. People are a little hesitant to continually recommend a specific person to a stranger, but the consensus seems to be that watchmakers in NYC are too expensive. It is much less to ship out of the city, and the work might even be better.

Also, the search function actually works pretty well on this forum, you can try that.

First, the crystal fell off and was lost, so I sent it to his watchmaker for repairs. And now the watch has stopped working. The dealer says these issues are perfectly normal for a vintage mechanical watch, and maybe he's right (this is my first), but I would have expected it to be more robust if it had been properly serviced?
This is complete BS. Yes, sometimes things happen, but it should be a very rare event that a major fault occurs shortly after a full service. The dealer claiming this is normal means that either he is dishonest or he thinks his watchmakers shoddy work is...
