Watch not keeping time off wrist

In the past 2 days, my 3571.50.00 has stopped running when off my wrist, if it gets back on it runs fine but setting in the box at night or on a table and it stops running after a few minutes. Obviously planning on sending it in for a service but can't until next month so any ideas on what's happening?

Chrono running or stopped?
Fully wound before you take it off for the night?
How old is it?
When was it last serviced?

It's from 1999, no service history so definitely due, chrono works after it's been on my wrist a couple minutes but not when sitting

When you take it off at night and set it aside, is it:
1. Fully wound?
2. Is the chronograph running, yes or no?

Fully wound yes, chrono runs no, not more than 1-5 sec

So you wound the watch by hand? 40 turns of the crown? Or are you relying on the auto-winding alone?

Just curious as to why you'd wind it twice a day. Would the power reserve not give you at least 24 hours? And would that be 40 turns of the crown both times?

It's an ocd thing but I don't count I just wind till it doesn't want to anymore, it's never run the power down since I've owned it, and up until 3 days ago has always been roughly - 3seconds a day

Long story short, going on a trip at the end of the month to a place that just so happens to have a service center so dropping it off while I'm there either way, just curious as to what I could have done, don't think it's taken any falls or knocks other than door frames

Pretty sure that's how you're supposed to do it with a mechanical watch, so that makes sense.😀

The calibre 1861 in you watch is supposed to have a power reserve of 48 hours, so it should definitely keep on ticking. Hope the service centre sorts it out for you. Good luck!

Oh another update before I actually fix it, the chrono is off 5 seconds after 10 minutes as compared to my phone

Not serviced in decades, may just need cleaning and oiling. Give us update when you find out.

Haven't done anything, have to set it every morning cause it doesn't run in it's box for some reason, but past 2 days it's stayed within like 5 sec during they day while wearing it 🤷

Way past due for service. The movement is running without proper lubrication, so there's no reason to expect it will run properly.

Yeah I'm just trying to run the reserve out but where it only runs on wrist it's taking a little

Update for now, I'm dumb and didn't check hours while in Denver, planned on dropping off before I went to airport and they were closed, so will be making a trip to nearest store in the next month or two. Ik I could mail it but want an excuse to try stuff on while I'm there.

I have one that runs off the wrist and it loses a minute or two now and again. I often wonder why.
