Hi there, wondering if anyone can ID this super cool chrono Ponch used to wear in CHiPs. Always loved it, but even now its hard to place. A pretty unique placement of the subdials. Any help appreciated!

Sporting the particularly unattractive but efficient Lapanouse Roskopf workhorse.

Dang did you already know that?

Damn thats awesome knowledge! This one had a lot of people stumped.

As Chips got more popular, he started wearing Seiko, no doubt some sponsorship placement there. Now I've got to find one. Thanks so much!

I don’t want to say that they’re junk, but don’t overpay a dealer for one of these. They turn up often and should be inexpensive. There’s a lot of NOS parts floating around too. Also you could look for “Globa” signed ones which are about as common as the Cimier ones.

Amongst some lovely Omegas, Longines and Doxas, I do have another single jewel movement from Genova. Even after service its not very reliable. Definitely agree with your advice.

It helps if you happen to be the No 1 member of the CHiPs fan club.

As @X350 XJR obviously is.

I think a real chronograph would be more useful for the highway patrol. Still, these are interesting curiosities. Cheap, and nice-looking.

... question is what about this one .. a SEIKO 6309 perhaps ?
That would be my initial guess from that photo.

sorry to be such a watch GEEK and plus the fact that .. yes I grew up in this ERA of TV Shows .... he always wore different watches ... here with an LCD and on a few episodes he can be seen wearing a Divers watch on a expandable SS bracelet .. that might be a LUCERN Diver
