Watch Cases / Storage

Hello All,

it’s come to the point where I need to find or create some sort of watch storage for the various watches I have.

I have them in separate 12 watch cases now but I’m thinking I want to create a watch storage piece of furniture where I can have drawers of the watches and then other areas of storage for straps original boxes ect.

anyone have experience with this or have you turned a dresser into a watch storage bin?

looking for ideas!

If memory serves there are a couple robust threads on this very topic... try utilizing the search function and I believe you will find them + perhaps more.

You might try doing like us. We keep watches spread out throughout our home, in boxes, suitcases and in various drawers. This method insures one will forget what one has, and where it is. 😁

Haha that’s how it is now! Just moved into our new forever home 4-5 months ago. Have 3-4 in my bathroom drawer, watch case in another bedroom. One in its own box on a shelf in my master bedroom.

thinking I’m going to build a piece of furniture that can store it along with straps cuff links, tie clips ect.

I have a couple of those watch cases with little pillows, but recently have been really enjoying this tool box from harbor freight. Was only like $80.

Came with some little dividers that are perfect for pocket knives too.

Looking for furniture threads if possible. Have the boxes already.

will keep searching!

Don't forget to expand that search to the Lord Google as well... I've seen many very cool articles on just such things.

Ah yes I forgot that any flat surface would make good places to park watches. End tables, counters, dresser tops, you get the idea. However we usually reserve those places for watches we frequently wear.

The worst example of careless watch storage was our dear friend Lenny in NJ. He was a wealthy businessman who used to watch hunt with the rest of us in the Chelsea area of Manhattan on the weekends. He lived around the corner from the house used as the Soprano home. However in all the times we were at his house we never hit it at the right time and seen a film crew working there which was disappointing. Of course Lenny himself had seen plenty of filming.

Anyways, Lenny had a sprawling, nice home and no clutter, except for watches. They were scattered everywhere. I kid you not...they were even in the decorative glass bowl in the middle of his dining table, you know the kind of big bowl usually reserved for some sort of decorative center piece of flowers or what-not. These were not cheap watches. This is only the beginning of the Lenny stories. I will continue with more, as he was quite the colorful character 😁

I have pretty well much the same thing, only mine is without the dividers, I don’t use it for watch storage, it’s where I keep watchmaking tools.
Bloody thing is full to bursting now…..need to find something bigger

Oh that’s not a bad idea and then I could always try to modify it with some foam inserts.

casual banger drop also!

Speed master with the SS bezel, Bulova 666, Tag Chronograph, Seiko Navigator.

Thanks! Honestly, it looks messy but 90% of that is on me - I just part of drop the most frequently worn items in there. With a little care or customization it could be much cleaner. I may pick up a second one to better store tools, spare bracelets, etc.

No thank you, I want my vintage collection in airtight containers, with desiccant packs to absorb moisture. Yeah they're serviced, and supposedly waterproof, but can't be too sure. And the containers go in the safe

Why only do half a job……..do it properly or not at all

Actually that’d be ideal for me……..for about a year, then I’d need something bigger 😁

I’ve got this, it was my grandfathers from when he worked at Continental Can from 1940-1961. Still has a lot of old Micrometers, calipers, and stuff in it. Needs a good refinishing.
