Yeah, lack of foresight by the original designers, I say. They could have easily co-branded with the Sansabelt people.

    Lost opportunity.::book::

    Such is life.

(Though the AOPA version is 37mm with 19mm lug)

One I recently finished sprucing up before I let it go.
    Great looking watches, for sure!

Newest acquisition and the end of a long quest for a proper column-wheel, triple-register panda. Really loving this one. Nice surprise is that it was unexpectedly the "jumbo" 39mm version. Definitely a new favourite in the collection!

    That’s a beauty!

Do the 39mm come with crescent hand and also “square” hand?

It would seem so--I've seen examples of both.

Very nice and congratulations! A very undervalued watch especially the jumbo... I had one but let it go - and regret it ever since... enjoy wearing it!

Congrats - and welcome to the club! They're wonderful vintage watches. Very under appreciated, IMO. Enjoy.

I'm glad to hear you say that. I was saving up for a Heuer, but when I saw this for significantly less than half the cost, I tossed that plan out the window. Taste is taste, and still think the Carreras and Autavias are amazing, true classics. Hopefully, I can add one to the collection some day. But imho, these are more interesting and unique pieces, even if they lack the same brand recognition.

These beautiful Wakmann triple date watches really caught my eye several months ago (especially the reverse pandas) so I finally took a gamble & picked up an blurry estate sale watch from FleaBay. It arrived looking quite sad with what I thought was tarnished gold case, heavily scratched face and stuck pushers. Also a very dirty Speidel strap with all sorts of grime stuck between the stretch links.

After a little bit of love, I'm pretty blown away at how amazing this watch now looks!!! I've really fallen for super cool movements and this Valjoux 730 looks pretty awesome!! I've posted some pics below and one alongside my Seamaster 321 movement and I must say that it's just as sexy!

Any suggestions on good replacement 19mm strap options for this one..... I'm considering a possible light colored Nato or if anyone can suggest any nice two-tone bracelets I'm interested to hear more!!

Any movement issues spotted by you good OF folk?

I was unsure whether to choose 37 or 39mm so I took them both:)

Given that it's gold and they're already a bit on the dressy side, I'd recommend a nice dark brown teju. But if you wanted something sportier, you could go with a nice pilot's band or rally band

Just my opinion, but NATOs seem best suited for chunkier steel-cased chronos or dive watches. These Wakmann triple dates are actually quite elegant (put mine on black alligator).

I'd been looking for a late 50's black face Wakmann Triple Date for over a year, one finally showed up on Ebay needing a new crystal and some other minor work. I just performed the needed work, and I think the result is fantastic. I've my new favorite watch in my collection, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I'm very happy with this find.
