Any advice for my vintage Triple Date Moonphase search?

hi! I’m new here. I collect vintage jewelry and have recently gotten into watches. I recently went through cancer and am now in remission, so I want to find a dream watch or two. The intent is for these to both be collectors’ items that I can pass down to my kid but also ones that I feel comfortable wearing on the regular and that are fully functional. Bonus points if the day/month are in French.

One thing I’m after is a midcentury triple date moonphase. My budget is up to $5k and it seems like for an Omega Cosmic triple date moonphase in good, collectible condition that this might be ambitious. Would that be accurate, or is there hope? I’ve also got my eye on the JLCs but same deal. I’d maybe go for a Zodiac as a backup as it seems like I could definitely score one of those for $5k or under.

If anyone has suggestions, especially of reputable dealers or sellers, I would greatly appreciate it. I’m located in SoCal but I visit the Bay Area, NYC, and Boston and could check out any local dealers in those areas.

Thank you 😀

It’s not an easy watch to find a good example of, the additional holes in the case necessary for the correctors make the case about as water resistant as a paper plane, which means the majority of the dials are refinished.

Then the movements often need parts too.

Something worth adding to your consideration is Omega made a re-edition with modern water resistance and a Blancpain derived automatic triple date Moonphase movement in a relatively slim package.

Price wise these are a bit north of $5K but worth it given how superb they are with an authentic vintage design.
