If you’re referring to my photo above, then thanks! I’m pleased with it - hasn’t seen much action. Although the dial is very similar, it’s not a Smiths - CWC took over the contract to supply military watches to HM Armed Forces in 1976 after Hamilton. Basically the same watch as the Hamilton but rebadged.

The Smiths are a different style case but almost identical dial. Here’s mine from 1968:


And you’re right about the arrow - the pheon represents property of the government, and has done for a couple of centuries!

As I understand it the Congo connection isn't actually true. Independence happened in 10960 and the ongoing crisis lasted into about 1966, whereas these were issued to the pilot class of 1970. So issued as the the Belgian armed forces were receiving new investment post the Congo crisis. But still stunning watches I think and only 30 odd known to remain.

Hanhart 54 with sterile dial and no caseback markings. Movement serial is 129xxx.
