Vintage SM300 - First time on 1039 Bracelet

I've had my SM300 for about a year and a half now. It came with the original 1039 bracelet which is in fantastic condition all things considered. The expandable stretch links were all in great shape and there was minimal wear on the clasp. Up until now I've avoided wearing the watch on the bracelet, it feels almost fragile just holding it. I know the quality of the old bracelets is not great, and they have a tendency to wear out.

I couldn’t hold out any longer, there is just something about the look of the vintage Omega’s on these bracelets that I enjoy

So here it is:

Thanks for looking
Jay

That's some pretty incredible patina right there.

Thanks everyone

I'm actually surprised at how good it does looks in person. Hard to capture with a photo especially with my picture taking skills.

Looks great! But I really don't understand all the concerns about the flat link bracelets I have never had any problems with any of mine and wear them just like I wear any other steel bracelet.

It's not the bracelet in general as much as the stretchable / expandable links closest to the clasp that I was worried about. I've heard that a lot of these get stretched out and ruined on the 1039.

But great to know that you've had no issues with yours

The expandable links won't strech out if you add enough links so that the bracelet is loose. Or you diet. Extra links do come up for sale occasionally.

I think these bracelets are unfairly labelled as fragile. From an engineering point of view, durable and light is preferable to durable and heavy.

I wonder if modern bracelets are artificially heavy as it gives the impression of quality.

Thanks - as luck would have it this is a complete / full bracelet so I have tons of room.

Modern bracelets are too heavy and overbuilt. Drives everyone to lighter leather straps. I wear a 3570.50 with heavy bracelet as my daily wearer. When I switch to vintage 7912, 1035 or 1039, it feels like I'm not even wearing a watch anymore.

Not a fan so much of the 1171 but I like the flat link bracelet too. I'm wearing mine on a 1610 with 840 endpieces, doesn't bother me after 20ish yeas of a Speedmaster on the 1998 bracelet, but the 1039 would be worth having. Alas, if only not so expensive...

I'm agree with you, i've been using my watches over 15 years with its original flat bracelets and zero problems, for my taste vintage Omegas looks incredible classy with this bracelets.
