I’m not watchmaker but when I’ve done this I only fit the bezel loosely to the top edge of the crystal. Then insert the tension ring, fit the crystal (with bezel loosely fitted to the top edge) to the case, then push the bezel down over the side of the crystal until it’s seated and gripping the case tightly.

So i went back to checking the bezel for the fouth time, and alas, turns out it IS bent 🙁 Checking the photos of when i bought the watch (thankfully didnt pay much) i think it might well have been bent originally as there are knife marks around the section that is bent, either that or i've bent it while removing it.

Guess its time to search for the holy grail / find another case....

How about just finding a watchmaker?

How about just finding a watchmaker?

Because this was bought to learn on as you've got to start somewhere right? (It was $65 non-running, i've spent about $30-40 on parts)

I've rebuilt the balance assembly, repaired the bend in the hairspring, balance shaft, arbour, got it regulated nicely, sorted the hands and fixed the stem...now come to assemble it back in case and stuck at the last hurdle lol

I believe we learn from our mistakes and everything is a learning curve; a hobby costs money and time and i'm lucky to have those.

Thanks everyone for the help. The watch is back together, looks great. The radium cleaned up nicely, the lume method works well and the bezel/glass are in nicely.

I had to ask a friend with a decent press to fit it in the end, and with a bit of jiggling around it snapped in a treat and now running perfectly 😀
