how-to tighten up a loose omega 565 in a one piece case (166.023)

I am working on a seamaster cosmic vintage watch from the 1960s. It is a top loading watch with a split stem. My problem is that the movement does not seem to be tight enough when placed in position. The case clips are tight. It almost seems like the case rail is slightly too narrow. I suppose I could maybe file down the case clamp base which would shorten the distance between the movement mainplate and the bottom of the case clamp. Any other ideas?

It’s held in place by the crystal. The movement won’t be tight in the case without the crystal installed.

I did install the recommended Omega Crystal for the case as recommended by CasKer. I was still loose. I could move it easily through the winding tube with a oiler. The crystal was all the way down.. Any other thoughts?

Pictures would help.
Best guess is that you haven't installed the crystal properly or it's the wrong one.

And if the crystal on the cosmic model is anything like the crystal on the flightmaster model, then a special tool may be needed to press it into the case...

Completely different to both Flightmaster crystal designs...
