Hi guys, i've seen a few of these Omegas online featuring what i've heard been referenced as a "monocle" hour hand. Can anyone shed any light on this stylistic feature as to-
- is it found on certain references only,
- are they original to the watch
- do they only feature on watches during a certain period
- were they bespoke for the customer (made to order)
the last question is one I pondered as i'm sure i've seen similar reference pieces having different hour hands.

I feel they are quite quirky and couldn't find much info on them before now, forgive me if it has been discussed in any length before, i'd be interested in reading threads or info on them.

They are called "pontife" hands (never heard about monocle?), typical of some watches around 1945.

Thanks for the response S.H, Any idea why they are called "pontife"? the only translation I get is to do with the pope.

maybe due to a distant similarity to the tiara of the pope...
