Hello everyone,

I have made an order of 20 straps in three basic brown colors of pigskin in the style mentioned previously. After looking at a few dozen straps of the period in a wonderful collection, I’ve opted for a single bigger strap keeper to complete the authentic look, but it can slide freely it isn’t fixed in place like the old ones.

Two were ordered for larger wrists with first dibs going to Bill. Frankly, he deserves to have one gratis after offering so much to the watch collecting community over the last hundred years.

I know some here have strong opinions and that’s nothing new, should anyone be unhappy with the lack of a ronde edge and cares to organize another group purchase you’re free of course to do so, I may even want one—- just wanted to let you know that the set I’m offering are in progress and will be available in the new year.

If this goes well I’ll probably offer a box-stitched strap design. I have had many made over the years by my friend Matteo. Here is an example in a beautiful textured leather that looks good on practically everything.

Hope everyone is in good health,

Ryan
That is a beautiful strap!

That said, I've had my small share of new straps, for now. 😀 About a week ago, I've ordered another vintage Omega (Speedmaster) 'Reproduction' strap from Bulang & Sons, which I think suits a Speedmaster perfectly. That said, the story that came with it (link) makes me wonder. A quote from said article:

"this is the original strap that was featured on the following pre-moon Speedmasters like the 145.012 and up to the early 70s releases. You might be familiar with these styles on Heuer watches from that era. But Omega used them also. And they did it even with a bit more depth and added the characteristic 3 heat-pressed grooves next to the racing-style holes to create a unique and recognizable design."

Has anyone ever seen an authentic Omega strap similar to this one, albeit made out of corfam? I haven't come across any advertisements, nor pictures of something like it. Even though it doesn't matter much to my enjoyment of this lovely strap, I am certainly curious to learn more...

I don’t have the patience to read the whole history but I must admit I find that Bulang and Sons replica beautiful.

These look to have been modeled on the Bullhead 146.011 straps. I've never seen one on a Speedmaster before.

Sure, have one of the old ones ... and also have the Kaufmann reproduction. Very faithfully done and nice quality.

@kox, very cool, thanks for sharing!

Now I'm off to eBay to find a similar buckle for it... 😀

I contacted Kaufman to see if they'd be willing to modify their existing strap design with the heat stripes, and they responded by saying that they'd produce a sample next week. 👍

I have an Omega Ladymatic I would love to get a nice strap for if anyone knows where only they cost an arm and a leg. Once they see the word Omega their cash price goes jing a ling.

Received my Kaufman strap today. Found an Omega advertisement that matches, so I'm willing to believe they were a supplier.

Problem is, they sent the wrong length... I ordered 115/85 and they sent 115/75, which is too short for me on my KO 2627. So we'll see what they say.

Darnit!

Darn, you’re really out of luck with strap lengths.

I know, the invoice has the size I ordered but that's not what was packed in the box.

I have been wanting to somehow contribute to this thread for a while. I love Seamasters from the 50s and these original straps did look cool on them.

Whilst we wait for Kaufmans new strap to @SkunkPrince , I found these recently.

1) One from Hirsch in a online shop (shipping only to Europe though). It costs around 30-40€.

2) A pricier one from a small german brand called Marburg. I dunno if it can be ordered online... I bought this one on a local department store in Berlin a few months back. That costed 15€.

3) Another cool one, but flatter. It also has a 14mm buckle end, which makes it good for original buckles. It is from an european brand called Pebro. Around 20€.

Not quite the same as the original, but on the same style, I believe. I am getting a new watch tomorrow, a long sought for Seamaster and will post some Fotos for comparison.

Update, the pigskin straps I’m having made are underway:

3 shades of brown...

Took a while to get the stamp produced and should be finished soon, when it is I’ll reveal more details in a new thread.👍

Another user on the 20/16 thread posted this supplier...

https://www.genteel-handmade.com

They emboss the line on their straps! So while perhaps not 100% the same as all vintage Omega (or Lemania) straps, it looks to be a viable choice too.
