I assume these are the marks of an amateur watch repair shop? The lugs looked very smooth. I didn't even look into the crown.
But ok, I like learning. Good to know all of this, esp with pricing.

This lug is practicing gone. Best advice is take your time and learn. I’d say you’re already doing a good job asking questions here before making a purchase. Better to spend time researching than making a purchase you will ultimately regret. And that’s me speaking from experience 🙁
My standard advice when I see repeated posts with obvious problems from a newbie is to spend 3-4 weeks ONLY looking at Original Examples here on this Forum.
When you can finally get the vibe of these original beauties, junk will be very noticeable.
These were LUXURY ITEMS and will have that mojo upon observation to appeal to the luxury market.
For a gold cap, your budget is good to get you something nice. Here is a dealer I have bought from a few times. And they offer a two year warranty on their watches. People can argue about prices...but if you see something you like and want, that is a decision between you and the seller. Good luck with the hunt. Search: 10 results found for "Omega" – Second Time Around Watch Company
As someone who’s owned this particular example: Very enjoyable watch indeed. 😀
Mate you need to stop shilling for these insanely overpriced junk dealers, those watches are very mediocre and many times overpriced like $1750 for a calibre 613 Geneve Dynamic? Really?
I get that you bought a lot from those dudes but you got taken for a ride, don’t inflict that on others.
To the OP...take the time to find a watch that you are really passionate about. Look anywhere and everywhere, because right now you are looking and learning. Vintage watch stores (regardless of what others think of their prices) are great places to study the models, see usually very good photographs, even copy the photographs and create a library of what you like, and later do side by side comparisons. Building your own reference library will always be of value to you in this hobby. And don't look for bargains, plan on spending your top dollar for the best example you can afford. But also chose quality. A great gold cap, in my opinion, is worth more (in terms of the pleasure of wearing) than a beat up solid gold. Lastly, you are buying "old watches." The term "vintage" sounds swell, it is still a 50 to 70 year old, old watch. Expect it to have some signs of wear. I'd be suspicious if it didn't.
So Mate, are you accusing me of intentionally trying to defraud members of OF by recommending this dealer? Anyone of common intelligence who buys from a retail store knows that the price is over wholesale...that it includes that store's costs of doing business...taxes, rental, phones, insurance, staff (and benefits), standing behind your watches with a warranty, the cost of money to acquire inventory, etc. etc. etc. Plus the owner might want to actually be able to take home some money and pay all his own costs of life and even save something for a rainy day or retirement. All this can easily add 30 to 40 % over wholesale. Now if you can't afford their "junk," so be it...but you don't need to attack forum members who are simply trying to help someone look at watches that may or may not be of interest to them.
I like the idea of looking at reputable shops and their pictures to make sure I can compare.
