Hi all, I was almost ready to give up my hunt for my first Omega vintage when I came across this piece and as usual, I was wondering if I could get second opinions from forumers: The seller mentioned that this comes with some documents and the number on the envelope matches the serial number on the movement. My questions: 1. To my untrained eyes, this look authentic and original - is there anything that should be of concern? Any tell tale red flags? 2. I don't have anything against redials/refinished dials but preference is to have an original dial - dial is slightly worn but I'm fine with that if the dial has not been touched up. 3. Does the movement match the time period and model of the watch? 4. My only slight concern is the inner case back - this doesn't look like other Omega case back I've seen - cause for concern? 5. Is there anything about the watch that could point to a franken watch or do all the parts match up to the watch itself (i.e. watch is whole with all its original parts)? 6. Does anyone know the exact model/ref for this watch? As always, thank you for any help you can give me
That dial is not what I would call 'slightly worn' The caseback has also been polished in an unattractive way. I would pass on this.
Hi guys, Many thanks for the responses Apologies, I'm really just a rookie when it comes to vintage Omega watches...when you say the condition is poor, do you mean the dial because it is worn? Other than its condition, is the authenticity in any doubt? Any red flags that parts of this watch could have been franken or taken from other watches?
What’s the price, that would be my main issue. If it’s cheap like it should be in the condition it’s in it might be worthwhile for a everyday wearer. So what is the asking price?
I was referring to the condition and was not stating that anything is wrong, because I didn't take a closer look, after having seen the watch. Finally, it's a matter of price.
Someone else was quicker and bought the watch before I could. The price was less than €600. I'm pretty sad I missed out
Thanks guys, you made me feel better It's just been pretty frustrating as I've been looking for a vintage Omega for a year but the ones I've been interested in are either franken or something not quite right with it. Either way, onwards and forward. @septentrio That is a gorgeous watch
Hi again all, Have just been offered this Connie and am wondering if it looks good (i.e. authentic without any red flags for redial, wrong movement for period, franken, etc)? Price is less than 900 Euro. Thank you!
The damage on that rotor is pretty bad. Does the seller say whether: a) the watch has been recently serviced; and, b) that rotor rubbing issue has been addressed. I’m also not convinced about the authenticity of the hands. They seem too thin somewhat.
There are a couple of really nice c-case Constellations in the private sales forum -- I might recommend checking them out! I was thinking of these: https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-c-case-constellation-from-1969.104954/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/ome...meter-c-case-c-1972-w-original-buckle.103319/
Hi again everyone, Well, strange things sometimes happen when you least expect it. I was actually going to just put Connie on hold while I save up for a higher budget. However, I was offered this for consideration by a friend - he isn't the original owner so there are some questions that he genuinely doesn't know the answers to. Price-wise, it's a bit higher than my original budget - any red flags as to the dial being a redial or was refinished? Do the movement and hands match the model and time period of the watch? Does the movement look okay? Any parts that look like they may not be original to the watch? Thoughts/feedback?
Hi @ConElPueblo, Thank you for the feedback - appreciate it Does the dial look to be in its original state? Rookie question - how can you tell the watch has been excessively polished? That's correct, my original budget is around €600 but I'm starting to doubt that's enough Thanks again!
Hi, for 600 euros, you can find a better condition one. Don't have to be sad. Just need time and patience
