Professional divers from the late 60s / early 70s.

Squale intrigue me, and that diver is a beauty. Can anyone confirm that Squale was a mid-price but higher quality product from the era? I know they made cases for other high-end manufacturers.

I think that most of the watches were made by other manufacturers, but sometimes double-branded with Squale. Indeed, that blue one is a Blandford Ocean Diver in the highest grade Squale case. I would generally agree with your characterization. The cases are high robust and well finished and the movements used by the manufacturers are generally good quality Swiss ebauches.

Anti magnetic competitors. IWC ref 666A and Omega ref 2914. Rolex Milgauss would be nice to have, but cost is prohibitive.

I was hoping to see a set like this and I like how you chose a pair with matching lume. I'll bet that a Milgauss will eventually find its way to you.

I think I have another Seiko Soccertimer without the SOCCER dashed out... TBD in the dailylight. In anycase, Seiko did "Basketball" on the same watch, so out did Citizen for a moment there.

Which issued watch would you choose, back in the days ?

If you were a soldier in the 40’s:

Omega ?

Longines ?

in the 70’s:

Hamilton ?

CWC ?

Or maybe one of these poorman’s Mark 11 variants from the 60’s ?

I've always liked the looks of both of these, but which do you prefer? Which is the more comfortable? Which do you wear more often?
For me, I'd say the bracelet of the Zodiac is really comfortable.
I wear the Zodiac a bit more I'd say because it is a bit more versatile. I find the Kontiki to be dressier.
But I wear both almost equally and surely not enough

60s: no doubt Longines
70s: both are identical 😀 ... Prefer creamy lumes rather than the greenish ones
