@Dan S @Dsloan @Tony C. @pdxleaf @Canuck @daderaz @Spruce @lindo

Great submissions. This thread could serve as some kind of reference.

Were these similarly priced? Dan, it would be a good addition to the thread. (I think).
That would be interesting to know, Steve, but I really don't know the original prices off-hand. I do have the impression that there was much less of a price gap between almost all of these brands at the time (e.g. Omega vs. Rolex), and that collectibility has amplified the price difference greatly.

In the 50s, the Longines Conquest could well compete with the Omega Constellation and some Seamaster models

Edit: the bling bling version of this post 😀

Back in 1958, these two were competitors to be chosen as "USN official watch"

(not a Tornek Rayville neither an original Bulova UDT; shame on me 😬 )

@Ludi brought a grenade launcher to a boxing match. I was about to share my pieces, slowly putting them back in the box. And dibs on that sexy FF.

I don’t imagine the Carrera 2447 was much of a competitor to the Speedy 57. The speedy had a 10years run before HEUER introduced 2447, in the late 60s. Carrera Fragment below is a modern interpretation of the 2447.

Only half-serious with this one, but one of the companies may have thought they were making a competitor in 1977.

I don’t know what mine were new but the 70s Longines Admirals are currently about £350-650 on eBay. Constellations are ….. well, you all know 😉

Though the price difference now is primarily that lots of vintage Omega still has spare parts available, while Longines doesn't, right?

Price differences for vintage watches are not generally related to parts availability, IMO.

I think that the general public think that there may be more cachet in owning an Omega.

Maybe these 2 would have competed

I've always liked the looks of both of these, but which do you prefer? Which is the more comfortable? Which do you wear more often?
