Vintage ballpark request

I’m hoping someone could give me a sense of the value of this watch, which was my mom’s. She likely had it for many years. I’m wondering what the ballpark value is and how much and what would be the best way to have it restored. It might make a nice gift for my daughter. Thank you.

The cost of restoration would far exceed any value this has.

This is what is known as a ladies cocktail watch. They were often given as gifts. The styles changing quickly as women's fashions are wont to do.

As a family heirloom, the value is incalculable. If your daughter is really into such things then it might be worth a simple cleaning. Which is cost that could never be recovered. The dial though is quite far gone. These are also really tiny by modern standards.

Thanks for this. A cleaning it is, my kid likes a few of the small pieces my mom had. Appreciate it.

I’ve purchased a few lovely vintage ladies watches for my wife- she loves them but you have to shelve any idea of “value” with them as they are rarely worth more than any precious metal they may be made of (and less than the sum of parts for stainless ones like this). But if your daughter loves the style, then finding a local watchmaker (not a jewelry store that will charge you a fortune and then send it to a watchmaker) will cost a couple hundred bucks and your daughter will have a family heirloom she can wear proudly.

That’s awesome advice. I should be able to find a watchmaker where I live in Richmond.

As to value, sentimental value is inestimable! The cost of servicing the subject watch might be more than a watch you might buy for her. But if this watch is important to her, then fixing it would be the way to go. This message board is populated by people who spend more servicing their watches than the watches they service may be worth. But if such a watch is important, people have them serviced.
