··Omega Qualified WatchmakerI have a question about this point. Is it mandatory to do a service or just a "tuning" (réglage in French) is enough ? Does it imply a complete service?
This problem itself is not an indication that the watch needs service, however it's usually only watches that are in need of service that have it. To repair this problem alone, the hands and dial have to be removed, and either an adjustment is made, or parts are replaced as necessary.
The first thing I do after completing the assembly of a freshly serviced movement is to mount an hour recorder hand (no dial at this point - I line the hand up with something on the movement as a reference) and start the chronograph, let it run for 10 seconds, then stop it, and let the watch sit. If I come back later and the hand has not moved, I then proceed to install the dial and hands, and case the watch.
Cheers, Al
