It is a sellers market at present, so I am sure your watch will do very well on ebay. Yeah, its my personal opinion and I am free to state it.

Yeah I am sure it looks better in person, but the bevelled edges on the case back do look like they have lost there crispness. Polishing = removing metal, so gonna happen. It does look nice and shiny though

I understand your point, but for me it looks not bad. The most of the Vintage double bevel case backs or not that crispy like "new". I have only one with a more or less untouched/unpolished case back.

The only thing that bother me is just the way the seller is trying to argue and to minimize defect. For example saying that lume wached off is a detail whithout any mention in the listing and saying the case is like NOS (even if sharp the case have been polished and it is generally agreed to state this in the listing) sounds more like sale man arguments to increase the biding rate. But anyway the watch is nice, the price will be high and hopefully both the seller and the buyer will be happy.
I will pass and let more chance for others! 😀

Looks like a nice piece to me. Very similar to my example. Don't think the case back looks too bad really, clearly polished but still defined. My case back is a lot worse than this but it is the original 105.003-64 back to this watch, and it has my father's name inscribed from when he was given it by his mother in 1965. I have a much sharper 105.003-65 case back that I bought a good few years ago with the intention of swapping them over, but it just doesn't have the sentimental factor of the original so has remained in the parts box ever since.

Bracelet is nice, exactly the same as mine (4/64), and I don't think the no.6 EL's look too gappy. I have two pairs - the ones original to this watch that are slightly bent up (they were worn with the original 7912 by my father pretty much daily for the first 20 odd years of the watch's life) and the other pair as fitted at present. Neither are tight against the lugs, the original pair being approx 18.7mm and these ones on the watch about 18.3-18.4mm. Doesn't bother me unduly.

Not sure if there's much loom left on my dial either, there is a slight lip to the lume and the goldy brown has darkened / discoloured in places, so may be some left, but at 51 years old, I think the old girl can be excused the odd defect!

You don't like the watch it is your problem. Maybe others want or need informations. Are you an administrator here ? In this case I will gladly shut my mouth. This watch is for sale on Ebay of course but as a passionate guy I think I can accept and admit things (no more lume) but since you say the case is not sharp make me Wonder if you really know what you are saying . With all the respect you deserve as an old member here of course. Once again I respect your opinion but in this case (...) I don't agree with you. Peace.
Many thanks for stepping forward and declaring yourself as the seller. Much appreciated.
I hope you don't mind but I have a question in relation to the pictures that are posted. BTW the watch does look wonderful.
Are you able to advise if your understanding is that the case back and case has been polished?
Not a problem if they have. At times it is difficult to compute what one sees in photographs, as to how they look if one were seeing them in real life.
This doesn't detract with the positives of the features that the watch displays, but, merely looking to complete the picture. (The lume is understood).

Hi, thanks, not sure what you mean by chrono creep? There are some small marks on the upper left chrono dial, not sure what caused it? Badly fitting hand? Did think about having the marks 'touched in' during last service but decided to leave as is, doesn't really bother me that much.

oh, don't touch up the dial. ever. it looks great.

what i was referring to is that the chrono hour recorder is not set at 12 when the chrono is not running. the cal. 321 movement is sometimes prone to this happening. it's not a huge problem, but might be worth having it serviced soon - at which point, that hour recorder can be adjusted.

Your main Chrono hand is set to zero. Yet you hour marker isn't. The 2 should be in sync. Hence the the comment on chrono creep.

Oddboy - Apologies for stepping in. Hope you don't mind.

I have a question about this point. Is it mandatory to do a service or just a "tuning" (réglage in French) is enough ? Does it imply a complete service?

If you have a good watchmaker that you use/know, am sure he can just drill straight to the issue.

my understanding is that it (chrono creep) can be adjusted easily enough on it's own, but most watch makers will recommend it as part of a full service. i've had a watch or two come back from full service suffering from chrono creep that weren't suffering before the service. back to the watchmaker they went and were adjusted within a short time - a week or so.

Aha, got you. Thanks for the insight, you learn something every day! It was serviced about 3 years ago but has been worn very little during this time, so not sure of the 'rate' of creep... Have reset just now, so will keep an eye on it.

just don't get in the habit of constantly resetting it to keep the hour recorder at 12. while chrono creep is annoying, my understanding is that it's harmless, and constantly resetting it will cause unnecessary wear.

Sorry it's a long thread but is there a decent photo of the dial somewhere?
