Hi everyone, I have a 2015 Omega Speedmaster with the original 1958/957 bracelet. It's a fine bracelet but I prefer the 1171/633 (vintage or reissue). (I can sell my 1958/957 bracelet to raise the money for the different bracelet.) When it comes time to sell my Speedmaster, will there be a large drop in value if I sell a 2015 head with the reissue 1171/633 bracelet? Is it better to keep the 1958/957 bracelet and 2015 together and buy a 1171/633 separately? Does this matter? Thanks for your help!
Well the original costs maybe £600 and the 1171 around £350 so maybe factor that it. There are plenty of others who prefer the 1171 too though so it might not be a big issue.
Obviously to keep the value you don't want to sell the 1958/957. Personally I'd rather be happy and have what I want than worry about value, but on some pieces value does make sense. (No offense but I dont think your 2015 speedmaster is in that category yet) Do you have everything else that goes with the watch? If so maybe keep the bracelet and pack it away for your kids.. ect.... If not then you're already incomplete. I'm borderline ready to sell my speedmaster suitcase and accessories as well as my other omega boxes and what not. I'm done with value and the boxes just take up a decent size storage bin in my basement. To each their own.
Thank you, both, for the insight. I bought the watch and bracelet alone, so maybe resale value isn't really a concern anyway. I'll lose the value of the original bracelet if I sell it but the 1171/633 has its own value that would be added back on. (I bought my Speedmaster on a lark. I'm a little conscious of value because I overextended in buying it anyway.)
