$1,881.10 per ounce right now.

Thank you I know the price of gold but I would like an indication of the value of the watch

This is neither an assay service nor a forum of insurance valuers that provides free advice to anyone who sends an email, particularly an abrupt and impolite one like yours.

This is a forum of watch enthusiasts who are prepared to assist fellow enthusiasts regarding watches.

So, either go away or start again with a polite question, telling us more about yourself and this poorly photographed watch

I’d hazard a guess the case weighs around 12-15 grams. Could be more, unlikely to be much less. Maybe 10 grams as a minimum. This is only an opinion and a guess, but based on lower purity cases I have that are also less substantial, and they’re typically 8-10 grams. Close the door on the way out.

You guys are really decent blokes, we all suspect he will scrap and melt it, yet you still help. If the world acted in this way we would not be in a bad place at all.

Maybe the picture, but it looks like the gold have worn off the lugs? Then it is not a 18k but a capped or plated steelcase.
Is there a steel case back?

If 18k it’s worth 800-1000

I will give you $75 for the movement and dial if you scrap it

dial right there.

I’d be cautious about saying $800 unless you have specific knowledge about the weight of these cases. That’d require 18.5g which is pretty heavy, although of course it may well weigh that much. My reference is a less substantial 14k case, so that’s going to be lighter because of the size and the density, but it’d need to be double that to scrap for $800.

I was giving value as a watch. 😉

No one knows if he wants to scrap it. He has just asked value and it’s gold.
With lack of information many have just jumped to scrap 😗

Not one for conversation eh?

With that dial I don’t see this selling for much above scrap price.

800-1000 what exactly😉 ? Because 800eur for this, just no. It is worth half that for me at best(roughly, 10 grams translate to 300eur for 18k) with a dial looking like this. The movement is likely full of surprises and moisture too. Omega cases are regularly 10 to 15 grams, but YMMV.

Also, beware, omega did 80microns cases that are very resistant and can be mistaken for full gold cases at a glance!
