The best offer so far is 7500USD. I will take better pictures tomorrow and update the situation then... To be continued.

Wow! You were offered $7,500 USD?

I only say this because these prices seem to go higher and higher on a daily basis. Granted I am not tracking prices very closely, but my perception is that these prices seem way out of control.

At this rate I may be able to sell a couple of watches and buy a house next year. Can I trade you my Ed White and a Gemini 4 for your house.....

Best offer now is 8000e... Getting interesting.

I'm a very junior member of this community, but having a bad reaction to this thread.

Feels like this has turned from "what do I have, is it worth anything?" into a real sale (and someone avoiding the restrictions on new members selling).

Just my view.

I notice another trend here: newbies getting chastised for not really knowing the "rules." I have a suggestion: if you don't like what someone has said, tell them in a respectful way why it doesn't fly. Or, don't respond.

I dont think any high posters have been rude? Some low post count dudes a little harsh, but they'll learn!

To the OP:

Welcome.

Coming here to ask how to sell your watch, is a bit like walking into the lion cage and asking the lion what he wants for dinner.

Its you.

What I mean is that many, many people will want to buy your watch, and so you are asking the very people who will compete to buy your watch, how to sell it. Many will say "To Me!"

That's why I suggest putting it on Ebay, or asking the mods here for a sales post exemption if you qualify. This will involve reading the forum rules, that we all ought to read straight away but even I have transgressed before I had read them properly. Its only polite, the guys who build and run this forum do it for love not money and the least we can do is read, and follow their rules.

Your watch has issues, and these issues can be addressed in many ways, and collectors will disagree which approach to take. Some might try to take your watch and restore it gently, lasering the engraving, replacing hands and glass, even pushers and crown. while others will only service the movement, possibly without even deep cleaning the case. If you do ANYTHING to the watch, you will alienate one group or another, and reduce your overall number of potential buyers. And never recoup the cost on sale.

Remember that people tend to pay more for a untouched, in need of work watch, than a "restored" one.

I must say I did find your updates on price interesting, but I admit it might be against the rules and seen as a way round the 200 post rule. (Albeit possibly unintended.)

So moving on, it would be interesting to hear where you end up selling it - if it goes to public auction where we can all have a go.

Although, I must say, the offers talked of so far are far above my expectations and comparables I find on auctions.

Best of luck.

Agree with the others, sell the watch as-is, there is a high premium placed on originality. Due to the focus on the pictures, I can't tell if the hands are original. The crown looks original to me. Good luck on the sale!

Like the good advice you've been given, don't do anything to the watch. It's a really nice example, very sharp looking. Good luck on your sale.

Definitely don't have it serviced, its worth more as is, in barn-find condition, the service will not only never bring back what you spend but depending on what he does can knock thousands off the value.

I don't mind it. It's giving a snapshot of the market right now.

Don't read the thread if it doesn't interest you.

OP. Nothing more to add, other than take your time. I don't see the market crashing any time soon!

I also would strongly advise against servicing it for the reasons stated above.

Ebay would certainly be a good option, but if you go down that route, have a good read of the terms for selling watches and jewellery and make sure you only post via an insured, recognised method.

Another option would be selling direct to one of the people who have contacted you. If this looks tempting, just do some research to verify they are legitimate. A member with no avatar who joined today, with 4 posts is much more likely to be a scammer than someone who joined 3 years ago and regularly participates in this forum.

All the best and keep us posted.

Personally this thread looks to me as a blatant attempt to circumvent the forum restrictions on selling by new members. These new photos appear to have been taken by a professional rather than an amateur and meant to drum up interest on the watch and entice members to fork over more money to purchase it.
