US1171 President Bracelet Thread

Ok, Cool.

Will the links be distinguishable from OEM 1171?

I still have a little bit of concern if this is the case. To be devil’s advocate, could I buy one and swap with my authentic 1171 permanent links that currently have become stretched over the years? This would be a cheaper and easier solution than having my bracelet sent off to a refurbisher like M Young.

Anyway, I’d be interested in the opinion of someone like Archer and maybe I’m just being too paranoid.

I’m in assuming it fits my puny wrists

You might have to wait until I release a shorter version. I mentioned earlier that I didn't include enough removable links, so I have to produce a second which will be able to fit squirrel wrists 😀

@SpeedyPete said "could I buy one and swap with my authentic 1171 permanent links"

I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Looks like a great alternative...Though I have some reservations about these being sold on OF. This may be better sold on a rep forum.

For example, would I be able to swap out the clasp and end links for genuine 1171 and 633 which looks to be about $60 on EBay (just a quick search, didn’t check if those NOS clasps are authentic)?

May I ask where these are being manufactured? And what other items that factory is in the business of making?

... There is a 14 page thread about getting these bracelets designed almost a la carte to OF desires. Frankly you can get burned anywhere and it's a miracle at all that in 2020 the hobbyist/ consumer gets to have direct correspondence with the watch bracelet designer. Wasn't even 6 months ago that if you wanted to buy a 19mm Speedmaster bracelet the only option was "you get what you get and you don't get upset." Pretty soon we will literally have 3 different options available to us all less than $100.

Would love to try the flatlink on a 145.012-67, I guess @Uncle Seiko tests them all on a modern Speedmaster. Does anyone else know if you have to adjust modern endlinks in order to make them fit a vintage case? Let's say by experience from omega original and modern endlinks?

Actually, Uncle Seiko will have four Speedmaster bracelets in total, counting his Beads of Rice offering.

Now that that these replica bracelets are welcomed with open arms, will other aftermarket parts such as DON bezels become acceptable?
It's not that long ago that threads like this wouldn't have been allowed.

I think there's a difference between someone who is hocking products vs. a true fan who is looking to make something fellow fans will enjoy. I was looking for input so that we could all benefit from some killer options for the Speedmaster. I got tons of help, connected with some serious collectors and learned a ton. If I shouldn't post about it any longer I hope an admin would reach out to me and let me know.

Well, if @Uncle Seiko would mark his bracelets as genuine Omega in an attempt to make them look exactly like the original; I would agree. Clearly, that is not the case here.

Also, whilst it is a great looking product, it is not by any means a product that would fool a reasonably educated buyer into believing it is a genuine Omega product. Unfortunately, some of the fake DON’s do achieve exactly that.

IMHO, these bracelets are a great way for collectors and enthusiasts alike to enjoy their (vintage) Speedmasters more. Something to applaud to!

Flat Link still needs some slight tweaking.

I think that looks great, and can't wait to see the end result 👍

One note on the endlinks though - it seems like they're designed to stand proud of the case lugs, whereas the original bracelet designs had end links that were recessed a little bit - like this:

I'd love to see end links with a similar design for the flat link, and maybe an option on later versions of the Holzer and 1171.

Personally, I'd rather have an end-piece that stands proud on the lugs rather than the last link of the bracelet hitting on the lugs.
The way I see it, that end-piece is too recessed inwards.

Just my 2 cents.

That flat link bracelet looks awesome. Will it a) fit a 7.75" wrist with a bit of space & b) come with end links?
Thanks

I agree. In the past though, certain products that looks like other products, and are certainly not fakes, have been frowned upon here. For example various watches that look like models made by other companies, but are not marked as being made by those companies (homage watches). In fact the policy as stated here is more in line with what dennisthemenace is referring to...

https://omegaforums.net/threads/should-i-buy-a-homage.66686/

My own personal view is if the watch or bracelet isn't trying to be something that its not (marked with a brand that it was made by) it's fine. But this is a shift in forum thinking/approval it seems.

I love that pic of the 3 (well, 4) bracelets.
These look amazing! I just want to thank @UncleSeiko! How often do you find someone who a) requests tons of feedback as to what to create, b) makes them look freaking awesome, and c) sells the result which is high quality, for under $100.

You rock!
