Dear all, I have this 3592 in my hands from a seller I personally trust 100%, but not sure how knowledgeable he is in speedmasters and definitely I am not expert enough (I own a 3570 from 2009). I enclose pictures in the next post. I have some doubts: 1) case: to my eyes, lugs are different from my 2009 3570. is case different in those models/year or might be too polished? 2) caseback: doubt about it being original, since engravement is not very clear and no sign of black writing 3) With case number (48307xxx), which matches the movement, in https://serial-number-decoder.co.uk/omega/omega.htm I get made in 1984 (supposed to be 1994 acording to seller). Don't know how trustfull this source is. The sellers claims everything original and bought if from first owner, watchmaker that cared for it. I am supposed to be paying for the watch today or tomorrow, so I would appreciate if you could help out with doubts/advice. Many thanks in advance!! (btw, posted this in Vintage section, but not sure where it should go, sorry for any inconvenience)
Last thing: how much in value would you price for service hands vs period correct tritium hands? How easy/cheap is to get them?
I think that case has a dent on above the O in Apollo. Could be lighting, but seems to be in every picture.
The watch looks legit, but worn and polished. The hands are luminova replacements and finding correct tritium hands that are matching the dial is no easy task. I think the price for such a set will be north of $500. What's the price for the watch?
According to the Extract for my 3592.50 with Serial #48.307.xxx was born on April 20, 1994 which coincides with the Italian version of 1,000. Mine is # XX4 / 999. However I don't see that your case band is numbered?
According to Moonwatch only, the 3592.50 unnumbered editions were produced between 1989 to around 1995. None were available in 1984. Your serial is fine. Your gold gilt 863 movement with Apollo XI engraved on caseback is consistent. The caseback looks genuine but very polished which may explain the lack of black lettering. Bracelet is period correct and looks nice and tight. Wear it well!
This is one of my favorite Speedy references. Exhibition back with gilt movement, hesalite, and tritium! As others have mentioned the case back appears to be original. It’s not unusual to see the black paint worn away from the lettering on these case backs.
thanks to all. luminova hands confirmed. in the end I agreed some price reduction on the back of this, maybe not enough, but everyone happy!!!
@pablosimon2000 Just pointing out that the lume from that era usually makes a nice color of patina, yellowish vs green. My watch is from 1970 and has a service dial from the early 90s yours is from the early 90s and has the original dial as far as I can tell.
