I would say clean...clean off with the tachymeter!
What happened with the case ref ? New serial from 1950 with U.G. logo never used before 1953 and a previous ref/serial crossed out and that means nothing to me ::stirthepot::
Dubious hands and poor dial condition, in my opinion it worth 5 X less 🤨

You're recommending THAT?
Oddly enough a mate has a Rolex 18K president full set with an Iraqi dial in NOS condition from the 80s that belonged to one of Saddam's head guys put in charge of Kuwait during the invasion. Factory Rolex job rather than something done after the fact, which makes it all the more interesting. He's had it in a safe for two decades as nobody will ever buy it, he can't ever wear it, and having RSC swap it for a normal dial would be a waste of a piece of history.

A $1,000? Really?

I know it has the GF bracelet.... but really?

Is that really a bad price for the watch with original band and box? Especially with that micro roger movement? I'm new to this so I'm just wondering

Not original box my bad! But still what should that piece have sold for?

I actually think that's a good price for that watch. Everything is original including the crystal, and except for the caseback, it looks to be in good condition. 700 USD is probably what it would have gone for 3-4 years ago, but we live in a post-Hodinkee-Universal-revival world 😉. Bracelet is not GF however. Maybe JB champion since it's American made?

It is one of those prototypes that were long lost 😜
Honestly, I should have known by the expertly applied lume on the base of the hands

Not on eBay but, have been in talks with a dealer on this one.. I've tried to verify and looks pretty good to me, but I want the experts to weigh in on originality of this piece. The seller wants 4,000€ for it. Thoughts?? (I've asked seller for more photos, so stay tuned..)

looks unpolished and all-original, but overpriced even considering the current market. It's a nice watch though, so it's up to you. If you are set on getting it, I would try to haggle it down as much as you can.
