Well, the falling off is disrepair, not necessarily shenanigans. Except it looks like someone lumed the blank logo spot.
10:1 odds that the shield logo came off during the dial refinishing.

Regarding the Aero-Compax, hour and minute hands are mismatched (thick pencil and military types, respectively), and the dial must be an old re-stamp. I can't recall ever seeing Breguet numerals on a UG subdial.

The hands do look dodgy, agree, the subdial in breguet I have seen quite a few but not sure whether they are all redials or not.

Take this one from sala page 316 (it does say reprinted)

Also in the what did you buy today thread one that citizen rich posted belonging to his wizard of oz recently also has breguet numerals in the 12 o'clock subdial (picture below taken from that thread)

Will be good to know whether this breguet numeral on aero compax can be ruled out as redial.

definite re-dial

have you guys been able to determine if all dials with that breguet style subdial are re-dials?

Good looking watch, probably late 50's, with an AS 1361 - based movement. I remember an interview with Gerald Genta somewhere, in which he claimed to have been cranking out designs for the likes of Benrus and Hamilton as a hungry youngster in the 50's, for 15 francs a pop. He also stated that, early on, he contracted with suppliers to manufacturers, instead of with the manufacturers themselves. We associate Genta with iconic watches with famous birth stories, like the Polerouter and the Royal Oak (designed in 24 hours?!), but there must be hundreds if not thousands of other "anonymous" Genta designs out there. (Genta claimed to have designed 100,000 watches, which sounds a little Wilt-Chamberlainesque, but who knows?) So this is not necessarily a "Polerouter-influenced design," but I think you might have detected the hand of the master here. I like the connoisseurship.
Full disclosure: I bought it for $120. 😀

Looks like redial, although with an interesting writing.

To the seller's credit, it states in the listing that it is a redial. Very good work, I must say.
