Listing on ebay ending soon with 140 watchers and ending in a couple of days. Please do your due diligence and go back to the old discussions on the UG Subforum before bidding. I am not too familiar with this variation but the consensus seems to be that the gap in "GENE VE" and poor quality steel on the case with pitting point towards this potentially being an Australian fake.

Interesting detail: 787k serial and - never seen before - a 3 digit reference(?): 426. 747k is basically the transition period from 4 to 5 digit references. Also: very late for Universal Watch to appear. For the avoidance of doubt: I have zero doubts about this watch being legit.

That's the most rust I have seen on one of these, and it's a dead giveaway.
Still surprised at the low sale price $2,850.00.
I thought, as an average fake, it might hit 4 grand.
I think all the fakes have soured people on this model in general.
