Universal Geneve Watches On Ebay

What’s the consensus on this one from our more experienced members?

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/235402858154

The movement and case appear legit and period correct. The movement is the right calibre and stamped with the “HOX” marking. The reference number and serial number look correct for 14k gold and a late 1940’s. The UG stamping on the case back seems to be legit from what I can make out, and the “eagle” case stamping opposite the crown looks right.

However, the dial makes me question if this is an accurate, non-Frankenstein survivor. I can’t tell from the pictures, but the dial appears to perhaps be enamel? And the dial logo only shows “universal” rather than “universal geneve”. And I’ve never seen that handset either (but I could be mistaken on that one). Could it be an earlier dial swapped to a later watch?

I’m not sure if I want to take a chance on this as it seems like some stuff is off, but I’m curious what others think. I’m not super knowledgeable about that period/era, and maybe I’m missing some examples. Thoughts?

horrific redial and many of the hands are wrong. I wouldn't buy it unless cheap enough to justify scrap gold value plus movement for parts.

Incredible! Don't think I've ever seen something exactly like this.
Exactly not but I do know similar ones

I'm a bit biased as I owned this example until last year but I really love the art deco indices at 12 and 6.

The time only version of the square hour markers was also used by Zenith and Cortebert around 1938.

I own one of these, they are lovely watches.

What struck me as odd with this particular example is the minute track. I've never seen that on these models but I'm by no means an expert.
Your right. Other examples don’t have that.. wonder if it’s
A re painted dial. I cannot find any resource about these. Would love to know more.
