It all looks, “ok … nice old generic chrono, might be worth a punt if price is right”, until you look at the pusher side shot.

Stunning pre WWII box. Which reference would have come in one of those? Possibly a Compur? An early Uni-Compax? Aero-Compax? Am I right in supposing, it would have to be an early five digit reference?

A picture from a catalogue showing 4 and 5 digit references were offered at the same time (as posted by Mark20 a couple of months ago). I guess I'll have to dig deeper to find a period correct watch if I decide to buy the box.

I don’t see how we could know if this box was associated with 4 vs 5 digit references, that is extremely specific.

Tried but unfortunately i do not qualify as i am in Singapore and do not fall into their system of authentication . the same seller of the box has got a UG for sale which seems quite interesting as well.

The UG that sits in the box smells a bit like redial but the pics are too small to assess.

I would say virtually guaranteed to be a redial. Too bad they don’t show the inside caseback so we can see the ref and serial, assuming this is the original watch associated with the box?
