Long time lurker, first time poster. Thank you to everyone here that's shared their opinions over the years and unknowingly helped me along the way. I can't be the only one following this listing...: https://www.ebay.com/itm/313599922691?_trksid=p2471758.m4703Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Does anyone care to opine on the originality / faults of this piece? Besides the case being polished to death, I'd love to hear if there appears to be any touch up work done that would de-value the watch. The listing says it's original dial / hands but I find some of the dial looks like it could've been repainted at some point.
aside from someone going after this case with a polishing wheel and a vengeance, it looks mostly original, aside from the gold chrono sweep, which should be blue. There's also damage to the exterior edge of the dial in many places. The rest looks correct, offhand.
Anyone a clue what this is? Ref 22235 with plated lugs? https://www.chrono24.nl/universalge...hronograph--cal285-uni-compax--id20304555.htm
We've had a discussion about other watches with gold lugs (mostly ribbon lugs) but that looks like a completely different kettle of fish. https://omegaforums.net/threads/is-this-a-solid-rose-gold-and-ss-case.102228/
yes, we've had some back and forth about SS cases and rose gold lugs, both in time only and chrono. There are many examples pictured in Sala archives, and real world examples also. We have been debating if the lugs are solid or cap or plated. So far the examples I've seen I've felt like were all solid, but this example above looks like gold cap. So perhaps multiple types possible? There is a ref 22235 with pink gold lugs in Sala archives, so I assume the case is legit, however it's for a Compur, not Uni Compax, so I assume the above example has had a case/dial swap somewhere along the way.....
Great. I'm on holiday so no Sala with me. Very weird combo and I don't think I've ever seen another example (regardless of the brand)
Hi.... Just bought the bracelet below... They are somewhere between 17 and 17.5mm but the lug width of my Polerouter is 19mm. Any tip of to make it fit satisfactorily? Thx.
... and with an 18mm lug width. Bracelets to fit 19mm lug width Polerouters are much less common. I really like the JB Champion Zig Zag bracelets which do come in 19mm as well as 18mm - they were produced for microtor models but will fit your earlier bumper reference.
What do we say? https://www.ebay.com/itm/324723104672?autorefresh=true&nma=true&si=zaGAYR%2FamzrjtKaEMtJ4OrOoR2k%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network On the one hand, the complex case, crown, and movement are all in excellent condition and seem to match in their quirky way. It's very strange, but in some ways, that's a positive in looking for originality. On the other hands, the dial shows signs of irregularity and imperfection. These are not ipso facto proof of a redial. Especially on low-production pieces. But they are worth pointing out. 1. The indices don't appear evenly paired. The 5 and 7, for example, are not centered. Nor are the other numbers. 2. There is a smudge on the "10" 3. The subdials are not ribbed. And, if you look close enough, seem to give off the muted, smooth curvature of a redial. 4. The quirky double signature is strange enough to be believed and just as strange to be dismissed. On the plus side, the font appears consistent with the wristwatch Sky Chiefs. So I'm honestly perplexed. My guess is it's a touched up dial on a mostly original watch. It could be a quirky low-production watch, with imperfections in the dial manufacturing.
I follow your reasoning but I still assume it is an original dial. Also: given the number of bidders at >2k I think there is not much doubt about the dial. Granted: UG stopwatches/pocketwatches are (very) rare but even then
This is a redial, I wouldn't consider it at all personally.. But also price depends on many factors such as size, movement, originality etc.

This is why you should check ebay first thing in the morning https://www.ebay.com/itm/4029673400...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Well that could be the best $250 spent by the buyer or the quickest $250 made by a new scam eBay account. Anyone here take the gamble?
I tend to think anyone with the skills to create an ebay listing would know it's worth more than $250 with even the most cursory online research, but who knows, sometimes crazy things happen
My guess is it's a stolen watch. The account was made Doesn't ebay limit the listing price for new users? Maybe since the account was made the day before, they set it to the max allowed but made the deal in person and got cash for it. That's a lot of imagination but it's my defense mechanism to missing out on such a deal.
