Universal Geneve Watches On Ebay

Maybe it's genuine then?..

I believe so, i don't see any signs of franken or recasing. The movement matches the case perfectly and the case is equal in the three examples.

Maybe it was a showcase watch (it was very unusual the use of a crystal back in the era...), with the intention to prove that the microtor movement (a novelty back then) was an automatic movement so efficient that even could be used in a pocket watch (just like the Eterna did with the Eterna Golfer)

But i would love to ear other opinions...

I am a beginner, but maybe the different cal. is because of the date complication on the one on ebay compared to the two linked

Yes, the 218 was an evolution of the 215 and the 218-2 was a 218 with date

It is a little too far gone. Would need a new movement (significantly corroded and would doubt there is much that can be reused) or a significant number of parts which would make it more expensive than a new movement, minute runner should pop up in time, bezel is just acceptable and a crystal would need replacing (yellowed) and case is damaged (bent lug). you could be looking at a pretty big bill but if you are patient, you could come out trumps ! after all it is a very rare and desirable aero-compax.

On that basis, i would think that 4K is high. Half of that is reasonable ...

Nice job, but I think we got it. There is no need to post the video three times in different topic 😉

Hello All,

What are your thoughts on this polerouter:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/282416691788?_trksid=p2055359.m1431.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

The hands and dial look evenly aged. The patina looks to be appropriate for its age.

The case back looks a little more crisp that what I typically expect, and I don't know if UG signed the crown on Polerouter dates during the time that this watch was made.

Thoughts? Expertise is appreciated.

Thanks!

I think the crown should be signed as the watch is from the 60's.

I know there is a good reference on Polerouter dial text on this forum. It would be nice to have something similar for crowns and casebacks.

The crown should be signed, crystal is a replacement, lume on dial and hands has degraded in an, imo, not very atractive way, logo on caseback with better definition than usual (wich is somehow strange in watch that looks having many miles on wrist), movement, far from pristine but, acceptable.

IMO it looks pretty good. Don't think the crown and crystal are a big deal and case looks good overall...at the current price ($475) not a bad deal. Just my two cents.😀

And I think the lugs look sharp and really like the finish on the internal bezel.
