Lol I know. It intrigued me though-may be fun to take on as a salvage project

It's funny, I wondered if anyone posted about this watch. I'm not taking on any projects like that but it did peak my interests just for curiosity. That is a very consistent watch. Every component is equally messed up.

What can possibly happen to hands in a watch? Is there any explanation for a hand disappearing?

My guess is that is has been taken apart to determine the extent of the damage and re-assembled without too much care when it was found to be beyond repair. The number of screws missing on movement is a tell tale sign ... The hand was probably lost while stripping it. It was probably stuck to pinion due to corrosion and flew off when removed. Easily done !

Seller refuses to budge from 4k-says his watchmaker has promised to replace everything for cheap.

Either I need a new watch repairer, or that watch is going to be butchered

There were lots of people after this one, some offering stupid sums. He caught on and eventually honesty paid off and we made the deal. It is a dream watch !
