For me, it is a redial. Look at the month subdial. It is not centered.

And the placement of Universal Geneve looks off center as well(just slightly to the left)

 

didn't notice that at once: The seconds subdial is off center too and the 10 is in the subdial. Same with day and 2.

 

I'm starting to see it now. Funny I was concentrating on the font and not on the centering of the subdials.

It looks boring. Wrong font, off center seconds, the whole paint job is executed in a pretty basic way. Even timex do dials that are far more artistic and appealing ... It is all there but quite a boring re-paint which lacks imagination !

 

I guess I'll stick to the classic three-handers which I can handle.

Exactly what I'm looking for as well, black dial, SS, in that style with the micro rotor.... Decent examples at a reasonable price seem to rarely pop up.

 

The seller claims that it's a prototype but it's obviously a mix and match of UG pieces in am Eska case.

The dial is beautiful and I would love to see how the watch would look. Do you have a picture?

Worth taking on as a project? Its missing a subdial hand, which is the part that concerns me most. Wouldn't pay more than half of the asking price.

 

I would be more worried about the condition of the case and the corroded movement....

 

It is a little too far gone. Would need a new movement (significantly corroded and would doubt there is much that can be reused) or a significant number of parts which would make it more expensive than a new movement, minute runner should pop up in time, bezel is just acceptable and a crystal would need replacing (yellowed) and case is damaged (bent lug). you could be looking at a pretty big bill but if you are patient, you could come out trumps ! after all it is a very rare and desirable aero-compax.

On that basis, i would think that 4K is high. Half of that is reasonable ...
