Talking about watches is the thing I like best. Compare myself with others. It gives me an extra charge to always look for new and different watches. Now I am studying for myself the second book on railway clocks in the world. To understand the differences with Italian watches. And to pay homage to these still little known watches ..

The universal watch for italian railways like all other watch. They were sold without the strap. The strap was purchased separately. It certainly was not marked universal. I discovered this news by studying the tender documents .... Which I then included in my book.

Thanks! Why do you think there is such a small amount of these 3rd version (1500/2000)? Did UG lost the contract? And why would they change the dial to a non enamel One? :)

Is this the prototype you were referring to in your earlier post? Or is this yet another prototype?

Careful all ebay-ers. Almost got sucked into one this morning, but upon closer inspection (and a sharp eye from a fellow OF member -thanks!!) note that the "6" is closed from the later tonneau model, and more worrisome is the appearance of a jewel being "glued" into the movement. Eek. Buyer beware!!!

15 and 45 on the sub-dial should also not be horizontally aligned on the "first" generation.

My first ferrovie dello statto and a prototype as well. What is weird to me is that all numbers are straight until the last one. Maybe someone knows why? Any

What's the verdict on the crowns on these watches? My own MK1 has the thin capital U crown, which is the most common variant. Are there other crowns correct for these watches? For instance the fat U crowns, which I've seen a few times as well.

It is the mold of numbers some to all universal prototypes ... Truly a beautiful watch

I have seen the fat U crowns on some, but I guess they are replacementsi since I have seen the capital U in all the three versions of the watch. Buy still open to new ideas.
