- MK3 was also sold to the public with no numbers on the caseback, and there are some prototypes with a 7 digit number so they can be distinguished from the others;
Also I'm a long time lurker, here's a photo of mine 😀
What's the strap, please?
@filmir Thank you for contributing to this thread.
To be clear on page 6 you show an alleged third case style which you are claiming as a prototype?
It would be nice to get legible images of the book pages you are referencing as well, as they are too blurry to contribute much to the discussion.
Cheers

Maybe an italian collector can help with the translation. The prototype are the MK3 with serial numbers on the casebacks with 7 digits.
The one I show on page 6 probably isnt a UG case. On that page the one from @jccjr is a MK3 according to the book.
This would be a prototype (big serial):

That seems to be a MK2/MK3 case but with the caseback of the MK1 -864 106. Strange....
Looking at this auction the backs are interchangeable - a 107 back on a Mk1 and a Mk 2/3.
Mine came as a set on Ebay but I obviously have no other information on provenance. My assumption was that it was spare parts from a workshop but it's not based on any concrete information.
It would be interesting to point the author of that book at this thread.
To be clear, are we saying that the shop-sold ones had FS on the back but without serial numbers?
