Here's mine. 2nd iteration. I find the glossy white dial, with no date and Arabic numerals, to be very attractive.

The tension ring is covering it up. You can clearly see it is thick. My ug fs has a thinner ring so you can see it more easily. When you visit the watchmaker you will see the swiss right where it belongs.

Is it possible to get a new and thinner tension ring that would fit the crystal? Or would that require a donor case?

Really looking forward to putting this bad boy on my MKI. Gotta swap out the case tube to match.

Hi all, I’m the owner of the UG FS MK1 that is presented in Roberto’s book. Roberto sold me this watch after taking the pictures for his book, and it has been with me ever since. Indeed I can confirm that the dial must be misplaced since it doesn’t show the “Swiss Made” letters. As you can see in the pictures, the minute marks go right until the edge of the dial and there is no space between the minute marks and the border of the dial. So, no Roberto, there is no refraction here. Did you notice the dial was misplaced before you sold it to me? I’m taking the watch to my watchmaker in order to see if he can place the dial properly. When I have some news, I’ll get back to you.
Meanwhile, I guess you should release a 2nd edition of the book with a proper picture of the MK1, right?
Best regards to all.
Diogo Alves
I took the watch to my watchmaker as previously stated and it happens that it had the wrong crystal placed (which marked the dial a little, above the "Swiss Made" - yes, it's there after all!). After replacing the crystal and cleaning the dial, here's how it looks now.
It took me a while to figure it out and bring it back to its original splendour, but now it just looks fantastic. It's even keeping amazing time after the movement overhauling.
I confess I was considering adding a Junghans Max Bill to my collection, but after getting this back from the watchmaker, I really think it fills the Bauhaus white dial urge.
Best regards to all fellow collectors,
Diogo Alves

Hi Diogo,

How did you find a new crystal with a retaining ring that would fit? Is it an original UG crystal?

I asked my watchmaker for a crystal specially made for this watch, that would fit properly. So no, I guess it’s not an original UG but it fits perfectly.

I just bought this Arsa automatic which has the FS hallmark. After having read the thread, I realise that this watch does not meet the sub second, markers and manual wind criteria, so I am wondering if it is real ? I bought the watch locally in a lot and the seller was not aware of the hallmarks. I would be grateful if the knowledgeable people and especially @perseo66 could shed some light on this watch.

“Ferrovie Friday” with a new strap from deLugs, slightly darker grey than the last one. I think it works! 😀

Got my hands on this.
1. Dial looks good. No issues
2. Crystal needs replacements (Please help me find one)
3. Caseback doesn't have an engraved number but does have a 864.107 case back number. Does anyone know what this is?

Have a look at page 8 of this thread (I also own a case without an engraved serial number) - my reading of it is that this was sold in a shop rather than being issued by the railways but there's a bit of scope for that to be lost in translation.

I'm not sure I'd be overly worried about tracking down an exact crystal - just ask your watchmaker to find a stock one that won't obscure the Swiss Made at the bottom of the dial.

If I'd maybe spent a few hours staring at these, and potentially decided that acquiring one was a really really good idea, could any of you fine folks point me in the correct direction?

I'm guessing Italy is a good placed to hunt?

@tyrantlizardrex Try a WTB here on OF. Heck, you might even get a message from someone who sees your post above.

There were sure hard to come by in the US when I was looking. Thankfully a fellow OF member came to the rescue.

A bit harder to find these days in good condition for reasonable price. Easy to find in crap condition for terrible price. Patience is key.

I've been searching on and off for a while. As stated, prices seem to be a bit ahead of quality at present.
