·Funny, I've bought and sold a few classic cars. I would never buy one from a dealer, only a private seller (and preferably the original owner). The more I read about vintage watch sellers, the more I am inclined to apply the same rules.
Only the buyer and seller know, but can assure you it was a significant amount
the EWC example has some serious provenance. didn't hit me until just now, but i bought a watch from a fellow collector almost 4 years ago, and when i met him to pick it up, he was wearing that exact UG. he had just bought it a few months prior if i recall correctly - from who, i won't say, but suffice it to say, not sure there is a number that would surprise me...

Maybe because there aren’t that many examples of these UGs trading hands. And especially more memorable there’s certain patina or wear characteristics?

The watch that EW sold is an outstanding almost NOS example. I know the new owner of the watch, I thought about purchasing it but a collector beat me to it. I don't believe this watch has been worn much if not at all, whether or not its the same watch discussed earlier that someone saw someone wearing, well we wont know. But i'd have to think the EW example probably has not seen a wrist, and given the new owners tastes and preferences, I doubt it's been worn before either or he wouldn't have bought it. Just my .02
Unfortunately original owners of 40' and 50' vintage ug watches are hard to find due to the fact that they must be about 90 years old ... 🙁
