Hi OF,

Just as per the title, I think over the past 4 years I've tried emailing, instagram messaging, enquiring via the website, etc. etc., Matthew Bain maybe 7-8 times now about watches listed as currently for sale.

I have never gotten a response. Just wondering if this is just me or an experience that others are having? Does he only sell to established connections and friends? Does he even exist? Maybe I'm just having bad luck - how does one get onto Matthew Bain?

I'm surprised they aren't answering the phone. I've reached them that way.

Isn’t he one of these traders who prefer to sell to buyers which don’t ask questions?

I'd be damned to chase a seller that won't answer emails, IMs or phone calls, it's a recipe for total frustration once money starts changing hands, or there is an issue with a purchase. Walk away.

Exactly this. If they’re hard to get a reply from before they’ve got your money, how bad are they going to be once it’s safely in their back pocket?

I was once told that the best service you're going to get is when someone is waiting for your money, expect it to go worse once they have it.

Yeah for sure, a good call overall. I've had a terrible experience with an 'established dealer' with a youtube presence before (christain / theo & harris) after a purchase, and it was a nightmare to get a refund for a non-functioning watch. Worth steering clear agreed!

Plenty of watchmakers and sellers will get on the phone with you or at least an email -- have an assistant do it at the very least. if some seller won't -- they clearly don't want my money and go stuff it.
