http://www.matthewbaininc.com/watch-details/2281 Be still, my beating heart. Unbelievably beautiful example that has everything I would want. Base 1000 that has ghosted, beautiful tropical dial, sub-dial leaf hands, and lollipop sweep hand - all in superb condition. Ugh. Time to sell me entire collection and buy this?
Here we go again... Same movement, different bezel. Hard to tell from the pics but it looks like the bubbling on the sub dial may have been dealt with. ATWG is right. I think he will be asking 60k USD + http://www.ebay.com/itm/112026067562Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/a...dmaster-a-chrono-matic-from-hamilton-and-more Where is the bracelet?
Must have a real dial artist, literally, to risk popping those rust bubbles, leveling, and retouching.
What are you paying 60k for exactly? If there's a discussion about the dial being touched at all, doesn't that warrant a price drop? Curious thing with these astronomical pricing once any discoloration is presented. Very interesting. Best, Thomas
I asked this question a while ago and the discussion was interesting: https://omegaforums.net/threads/price-upon-request.21760/
Yes. This one has made the rounds. https://omegaforums.net/threads/2998-2-lollipop-on-ebay.40942/ http://www.ebay.com/itm/112026067562?rmvSB=truePurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network http://www.db1983.com/the-collection/omega-speedmaster-ck-2998-2-tropical-19601 @DB1983 mentioned in that first post that they were not the eBay buyer.
Wonder if the dial artist troweled over the concentric circles on the hour subdial In fact, looking at the DB pics, i don't see any there either - macro pics needed.
Does anyone find it unusual that the indices go up and over the step edge on the 30 min and 12 hour subdials?.
Nice find on where this one has been and what's changed! Not sure what you mean by ' up and over the step edge'
I think he means that the markers on the subdials appear to extend over the edge or rim of the subdial.
Think it's ok. Here's another that has it. http://www.speedywatches.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/brevetwatches_tropical_2998_2.jpg
