Looks like someone did make an offer in the end.
Guess this one will be a textbook example of how OF takes a watch from the 1$ yard sale to the international collector/
dealer circuit.
Do we get bottles of brandy/ commissions / eternal gratitude or bouquets of flowers for suggesting and advising the lug restoration?
Or maybe just « thanks »?
just by curiosity I went back through the whole thread and not a single time has the OP @knafel1983 uttered a word of thanks or appreciation for the guidance given, which included:
- validation of correctness, and research with documentation from Sala’s book;
- an assessment of rarity;
- a opinion on restoration;
- AFAIK referral to a lug restorer;
- encouragements at every step;
- an estimate of value for a resale;
- and even some thoughts on the best strap color.
Am I missing something?
Had dibs on the watch from early on, thank you @knafel1983 for honouring the dibs. This will stay in the family!
the OP was very clear he might need to sell it and frankly that is quite human - some of us need cash for other things than watches. And that is totally fine.
What I find saddening is the lack of acknowledgement for the community and the help received but I certainly won’t lose sleep or waste anymore time over it.
Karma will do its work...
