    What a transformation! You've been on a long journey hunting the right artists for the work at hand...well done, and congratulations! I'd call dibs, but I see a few before me already have, and the advice and encouragement everyone provided most definitely puts them at the front of the line. Still, the story behind this makes this specimen that much more special and desirable in my opinion. Again, well done!

    Just read the whole story, it's really an amazing job they've done on the case! Enjoy wearing that beauty!

    Looks like someone did make an offer in the end.
    Guess this one will be a textbook example of how OF takes a watch from the 1$ yard sale to the international collector/
    dealer circuit.
    Do we get bottles of brandy/ commissions / eternal gratitude or bouquets of flowers for suggesting and advising the lug restoration?
    Or maybe just « thanks »?
    just by curiosity I went back through the whole thread and not a single time has the OP @knafel1983 uttered a word of thanks or appreciation for the guidance given, which included:
    - validation of correctness, and research with documentation from Sala’s book;
    - an assessment of rarity;
    - a opinion on restoration;
    - AFAIK referral to a lug restorer;
    - encouragements at every step;
    - an estimate of value for a resale;
    - and even some thoughts on the best strap color.
    Am I missing something?

    Had dibs on the watch from early on, thank you @knafel1983 for honouring the dibs. This will stay in the family!

    Silver lining @Syrte ... at least we found and vetted a good US case maker. It was very obvious to me that this was a fixnflip.

    the OP was very clear he might need to sell it and frankly that is quite human - some of us need cash for other things than watches. And that is totally fine.
    What I find saddening is the lack of acknowledgement for the community and the help received but I certainly won’t lose sleep or waste anymore time over it.
    Karma will do its work...

    Yes, please and thank you are always appreciated. Sometimes we get far too little of that.

    Oh hey I liked that photo! Did a double take at my handle there... I thought this watch looked familiar and it was bugging me for the past couple days. Glad I checked OF. He's friends with Dre I believe :).

    I’ve always been fascinated by old trade routes and transience, my fascination for traveling watches must be an extension of that ;).

    I’ve definitely guilty of uttering the words “this one is a keeper” and then selling it in 6 months when my attention wavers. Never say never ;)
