Can anyone help me ID this, or the parts? Guy I know has it and is asking $3k.

Looks put together to me, but I know these cases can have quite a bit of value.

I know the mark II should be a cushion case watch, and serial looks to be in the early 70s range. Hands dont match, case over-polished, rough bezel....but its a straight lug....

I'd certainly ask for a picture of the movement. Examples have come up of old Speedys that've ended up w Mk2 dials, and given that the hands are new/incorrect, maybe a dud dial/handset was just swapped out for something simpler. Hard to say much else without the movement, and certainly $3k USD for a cal 321 would (imo) be worth it.

So, ,MkII movement/dial in early case with service hands?
i have low standards, but i think that case is toast with those lugs

It's probably worth $3k in parts, but none of the parts are particularly appealing so I don't see it being worth restoring. If you are interested in pulling it apart, listing it in pieces, and hoping to make a modest profit, then go for it. But I don't think the upside is very high, and you are looking at a significant hassle and some risk.

Thanks, I knew I could count on you all to talk me off a ledge if needed.

No need to go into detail, but happy to contribute to the conclusion: RUN!

Agree. Most likely mk2 dial and movement with straight lug case and bezel.
Doesn’t seem like it’s worth the hassle unless you need some of the components

If it had a 321 I thought it would be an OK buy for parts, but... 861.. yikes!

I passed on it, while leaving a trade option on the table. I'd have about 1k in the trade, but he's thinking it could be original so I dont think he'll go for it. I explained the parts, serials, polishing, but I left it at that.
