Crown looks OK to me, even if not original I would leave it alone. I would def match the minute hand to the hour, but there are not a lot of people that can do a great job on that, James H is definitely on the list. I would not mess with the case unless you cannot safely attach a strap, or if the spring bar has too much play, etc. But perhaps cheaper and easier to mod a spring bar to fit the enlarged hole rather than the other way around?
Otherwise just a full service, and new crystal if the current one is beyond salvage.
It's a beautiful watch, I like the patina !

Back from services, ready for some quality wrist-time. Happily reflecting over 80 years of history. Still trying to get to the bottom of the family legacy. Apparently my great great uncle may not have been the original owner before its long stretch in a jewelry box- this could have been one of the few items surrendered to him during his 1945 service in Germany.

Hope to learn more about this reference or related models - I gather it’s a limited piece based on some breadcrumbs in other threads. UG said they’d be happy to offer the servicing starting at four figures; I’ve yet to hear back from their heritage team, and they said archival research is on hold amidst the relaunch.
Many thanks for all the recommendations and information, ideally I can return with less hasty photos that better demonstrate how the light plays on the patina. Lume matched nicely too. Catchy at a distance and a bit distressed up-close. Not too married to the provided strap.

it’s a limited piece
Basically all UG's are - what now would be called - limited pieces. I'd recommend only a movement service which should cost no more than EUR 500

Thank you. Do you have a guess as to figures produced or known?
Those photos are now post-service. It was a couple hundred more than that, including matching the minute hand lume to the original hour hand and tightening up the lug hole damage. Pleased with the results, just like the fine advice I’d got here.

22492 was produced in 3 batches. Total production probably 800 pieces. Yours is from the 2nd batch, which was probably 500 pieces. In UG land this is one of the largest batches ;-)

How do you know if these are serial # block allocations vs actual pieces produced?

I don't but I have enough data to be convinced about that. I can't rule out that sometimes a small batch will have been made 'inside' a larger batch but examples of this are (very) scarce (and the examples I know are not that convincing).
